So I over-clocked my card with CCC, to 690 800.

I then tried ATI tool because I wanted to get a score of 10000 in 3Dmark05.

For some reason on my core clock I couldnt raise it above 785, it set it to find the higest clock, but if it goes above that it tells me there is a driver error. also if I use anything bellow that no games on my PC work, if I try to play something I get a black screen or random collor paterns.

Why dosent any over-clock work when using ATItool? is it because I still have my over-clock active in CCC?

I have the latest drivers.

I have a pentium 4 3.60
2 gigs of ram
400 gigs of memory

What is a good program to tell me all the details of my PC? so I can post them.

ill bump ya...i have very similar situation. used ccc overdrive to max. but only scoring 8900 in 3dmark05. ive read ati tool doesnt work for overclocking the x1800xt. however, it seems you can use it to increase fan speed which helps keep the temps down. which is what ive been doing.

i too would love to get my 3dmark05 up to 10000.

what is the safest, most reliable overclock method for the xt?

we need input from xt owners who have successfully done this..

Thanks for the bump Vikingblade67

I have looked foor a over-clocker in DriverHeaven, but I did not find one, I tried 2 other over clocking programs and none of them worked. Only thing I did find usefull was a program to tell me everything I have in my PC.

BTW I do not know how to work with BIOS. Any tips? Is flashing a card working with the BIOS?

windows XP professional(servie pack 2)
pentium 4 3.60
ASUS P5LD2-Deluxe
X1800XT 512 with catalist 6.1

Only thing that can over-clock my card is CCC, do I need to get rid of it or something? I just installed my zalman, so I can probably take it even higher.

What may be the problem?

Disable both Ati services. Use atiTool beta 10 or 11 to clock your system. When going for the higher clocks you must raise core voltage also.

If you don't want to fool with the bios, you can set up a profile that will emulate the overclock bios.

1) create a new profile called "your profile name"

2) click the settings button and go to the voltage screen.
Set gpu core volts to 4.75.
Memory volts 2.097 for both settings.
Click the apply button and then save it to your new profile.

3) Now adjust gpu and memory settings to desired over clock. I would use 700 core / 800 mem for starters. Apply new settings.

4) Save to your new profile and your all set...

hmm the VGPU only goes up to 1.575, but the MVDDC is already at 2.097.

For the GPU how would I bring it above 1.575 like you recommend?

BTW how would I Disable both Ati services?

ATITool works fine for overclocking X1800s - I'm using it right now. Be sure to use the latest version (beta 11).

i'm in a similar boat - i'm SOOOOO close to 10,000, but i know i could get well above it if i had a proper oc tool. i'm at 9970 so far, and have the oc bios installed. mayhaps i'll try these suggestions now.

Sorry that is supposed to be 1.475 volts.

Disable services by going to:
startmenu/allprograms/administrative tools/services
