4. You don't get to see them either - you only see the ram from the top, not much to look at, heatspreader or no heatspreader.

That all depends on the angle your looking from :p. If your at eye level with the RAM then thats true but if the case is sitting below eye level or the case is in front of you (depends on the placement of the DIMMs on the motherboard) then you'll see the sides :).

And how is G. Skill's customer service? Has anyone here RMA'd with them yet?

Is this tccd?

I notice the poll mentions revision 2 of this ram. is the above link tccd?

Yes it is, Any DDR PC3200 rated for 2-2-2-5 is going to be TCCD (current memory) But as many have said this isnt the best TCCD and its more expensive. I personally have this memory, but i got it for free som im not complaining, If i had to buy some, i would look for something on the Brainpower PCB like G.Skill...

personally I have gotten to 273 with my corsair, running decent timings and 1t (2 x 512 sticks) so really i love the stuff, but there is allways room for improvement...

wrong. there are micron chips rated for 2-2-2-5 as well, they are used on ballistix and i forgot what the chips are called :(

Here's some Centon 2x256s. I'll have the 2x512 results up shortly as well... the newer revisions use the Brainpower B6u808 PCB on 440 chips.

Just like 5b-c (OCZ EB)... that means inconsistent. Some EB would clock to 300MHz, other won't go over 245MHz :). With the new revision, 5b-g, the gap is smaller, but it's still there.

there is no performance difference with corsair TWINX1024-3200XL, or TWINX1024-3200XLPT is there? its merely the difference in heat spreaders, white/platinum, vs black, totally cosmetic?

http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2226&p=9

i have two sticks, and i can verify that those results are not a fluke, however, i have trouble getting over 240mhz due to issues with my memory controller on my clawhammer.. however one stick can do 240mhz with 2.6v, and the other needs 2.65v... anandtech is going with 2.7v, which means that i might just have better sticks than they do ;)

I would like to know this too. Actually, it's a friend over at forums.amd.com who's asking. He had trouble with Corsair RAM (errors in memtest at stock) and is thinking of getting G.Skill (the 2x1GB kit of the Extreme series with black spreaders, as recommended by me and Eclipse).

Anyone have any ideas about their customer support?

Thanks in advance.

G.Skill wins by a long shot. No one else can compare. OCZ's EL Platinum PC-4800 is a nice second place though.

its a year old bro :p

at least someone is useing the search tool... I mean if he found this thread then damm....

yeah, but he found a weird thread to ask about g.skill's reliability in, when we actually have a thread dedicated to that, which is much much newer :p

It doesn't matter that the thread is a year old, not one bit. All I want to know is how G.Skill's customer support is, and I thought I could maybe rely on you guys to help. I Googled for a while but didn't come up with much. Later on, I found G.Skill's support forums and a good thread on XS.org. By the way, there's been 6 more votes for G.Skill in this poll since less than 12 hours ago. Seems this thread isn't quite as dead as you may think.

Less of the forum snobbery, please, otherwise I will track you down and put a shuriken in your jugular. ;)

This thread started when 2X512 @ 318/2.5-4-3 still the choice of ocers. Anyway their customer service is pretty decent. I contacted the Gskill tech @ XS and rma my LA without any delay...
