i have a 5700le (iknow im upgrading soon i hope) and for the past few days after about 30min of gaming it fereezes and vertical bands of green pixels go on the screen. I had it on a very minimal overclock and i turned it down but it still does it. any ideas? thx for the help ;)

I'm assuming that the card doesn't have any thermal probe (if it does download rivatuner and give the temperatures a check).

Try running the card with the sidepanel of the case off. If this changes the time w/which it takes to start up the artifacting, I would reseat the hsf on the card with some new thermal paste.

If that doesn't help, I'd consider trading the card into another computer to verify that its only the video card giving you issues. What it sounds like is the video card RAM overheating, but it could be the cards final breaths.

well i bauhgt from comp usa and got the 1 or 2 year warrenty so i think its still good... ill have to check that

Seems your gpu is overheating, this is likely due to crappy thermal compound or your fan is not turning ? Anyways get some arctic silver 5 compound take off the gpu cooler clean it and replace it with as5 and should fix your problem long as the fan still works and you have not permantly destroyed your gpu.

im just gonna take it into comp usa first and see if i can get a new 1, if that doesnt ork i may try artic silver, and if that doesnt work any idea on an agp card for 100 dollars or less ( i really dont wanna spend money on a crappy video card but i may have too) thx ;)

works fine so far.. ill give it another day of good gaming just to be sure, thx for takng me to riva or i would have never done that... ;)
