So, it seems they're bringing FiOS to my area soon, and I was wondering if anyone has good/bad experiences with Verizon's service. I'm looking into either their 30mbit or 15mbit service, but would like some input before having them run new lines over here.

Damn, we really need some more providers down here. :(

I've read mixed reports about Verizon... and also the fact that once you go to fiber, you can't go back (affects phone service).

I probably wouldn't be taking my pants off so soon if Verizon came around because I don't know how they do their IP leases, SLA's against hosting and I'm sure cable companies have something planned to give FIOS some competition. FIOS kind of sucks in a way how they give you a lot of upstream speed but don't want you to host any kind of server...

True, the lack of hosting options is kind of shitty, but I'm only concerned about my downstream speeds. I need consistent highspeed access.

I have no problems with latency with my fios service. In fact I love it. I wanted it more for the upload speeds they offer. I guess if you have any specific questions I could try to answer them Also all ISP pretty much have policys against hosting but you can still do it as long as it doesnt eat alot of bandwidth.

The only real question I have is: Are you getting your full xxmbit/s service, or just a portion of it?

I'm currently on the 5down 2up plan and im getting the 5down and 1.8 or 1.9 up. It's close enough for me. I know the have a 15/2 plan for 10 bucks more and I'd love to have that plan but I need to save all the money I can :) and I really don't need 15 down as most places cant give me that and I down do alot of downloads at once.
