ok i'm getting money and Newegg gift certificates for Christmas....just some advice on what i'm getting and if it will work together good, also if it will work good with the part i all ready have...i'm getting a new CPU, MB and Video Card...here's what i'm looking at:

ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16813131524

eVGA 256-P2-N515-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Desktop PC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16814130247

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16819103562

Now...any suggestions? Especially when it comes to the MB and CPU..i'm going with that Video Card no doubt.....any issues seen?

My carry over parts and replacement parts are listed in my signature....thanks.

looks good, could possibly go with a8n-e if you dont plan on going sli, but thats only a 15 dollar or so difference. the real question is do you really want dual core. if you multitask and what not, then go for it, no questions. if you primarily game though, and do little multitasking, you may be better off with a 3700+ sd or even a 3500+Venice, and getting another gig of ram.
just my .02 from a non dual core pov

yeah i looked at that...not sure.

i don't really multi-task too much...but i guess it would be nice....for the price range of the X2 3800, what single core AMD chip wouldyou suggest?...and which do you feel is better for gaming purposes if at all Venice or SD chip?

well problem with dual core is you are going to have some who fully support paying for it, some who are so-so, and some who feel it is better to wait 6mo-1yr before going dual core, since they arent even fully utilized yet. rite now, i think single core for gaming, best bang for the buck seems to be the 3700+ san diego, at or around 230 dollars. with the 100 dollars you save here, you can begin looking at a gtx, or higher clocked gt if you desire. you could also look at a 4000+ san diego, but i think the 3700+ sd is where its at. if you think you may be multitasking, or just want hte overall "silkiness" that comes with dual core, then by all means go for it, im sure you wont be dissapointed.

thanks for the advice...you have me thinking now..lol....especially since i guess i could save some money and get a GTX.

ya, i mean im by no means an expert, and im sure that tons of people on these boards will have rave reviews of the dual core, but it really comes down to money, use, and if the money could be used better in other places. whatever you decide best of luck, either will smoke.
