no 1gb stick i know of likes 3v or more, except for a rare stick of ballistix

my vote goes to the first one scott linked :D

If I could have found those OCZ EB Plat for less than $370 (damn Atacom, just damn), I probably would have picked them up instead of these Ballistix sticks.

All of you guys here have got me so paranoid that my Ballistix are going to arrive next Monday and melt the instant I plug them into my computer. :(

atacom is a shady company. i've been to their place and i don't think i'd buy from them again

My vote goes for the Mushkin Redline....excellent reviews, the newer versions run at "normal" voltages under 3.0V and you can buy them directly from Mushkin with their usual lifetime warrenty and outstanding customer service and support. ( and,no I don't have any affiliaion to Mushkin, just a very satisfied customer for many years)

i'm thinking of either the mushkin redline or the ocz platinum with eb now.

the ocz has a lot of great reviews, but is the enhanced bandwidth thing really anything?

the mushkin has lower timings at stock, so maybe those would be better

you will never find the ocz in stock anywhere and I was only able to find the redlines instock at mushkin.com. For me the redlines were my only choice. But there are a few 10% off mushkin.com coupons and they have free shipping so it all works out

thanks for that info, but if the ocz's are in fact better, than i rather wait for them to be in stock. the cost isn't really an issue this time, since i get to expense this, but if i can save money on the mushkins and that's the one i want, then that's great too

they should be the same chips with the same specs. only difference is the brand name and heatspreader/PCB color :D

from reading the review at anandtech, i think i like the ocz better

it hit ddr550 at 2.7volts!!!
http://anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2560&p=14

where as it seemed that the mushkin needed up to 3.5volts
you are thinking of the 2x512mb sicks. the 2x1gb redlines like 2.6v-2,8v just like the ocz. More volts for these chips is actually a bad thing. Like I said, the only difference is brandname. So if you think ocz will somehow give you better chips then go with them. But it's all about luck.

what about warranty service, if i buy either the mushkin or ocz thru newegg, then i get newegg's warranty service correct?

if not, ocz is 5 miles from me where as mushkin is in colorado

both have lifetime warranties, and neither are in stock at newegg...

but if you are 5mi from ocz, then i would go with them.. but only if the place 5mi from you is the one where your rma would go..

you could maybe even try to go there and get some? i don't know though..

can they really now? ;)

Yeah, they can. RyderOCZ over at XtremeSystems got his to 310FSB at 3-4-4-8, if I'm not mistaken. Don't have the link on me, though. And he may have had cherry-picked samples, because he works at OCZ. But lots of people are reporting 280+ with those.

i'm seeing 265-275 for most people, aside from the ones who get review samples or work for ocz ;)

that aside, show me somewhere they're in stock :(
