Xbox 360 on 2005FP **Pics 56k Warning**

Early as last week, there were lots of shots of the 360 on a 2405fp, and it looked great. However, all of us sitting on a 2005fp were left to wonder how it would look for us. Well, I am here with pics, and it looks GREAT! All pics running with the VGA cable, resolution set to 1280x720. Sorry about the questionable pics... shotty camera = shotty pics, but these should do the job.

by the way, I noticed that the top res is 1360 x 768? if so, is there no xbox 360 love for us 2405FP owners who run at 1920 x 1200?

I'm gaming on a Samsung 23 inch LCD HDTV, and it's unbelievable. The Xbox360 just makes everything look so good, and makes my gaming PC just cry. Everything looks so natural in widescreen, especially PGR.

Actually, you might be right. However, I just love the smooth consistent frame rates. I'll post my opinion again in a month after we've given it time for the initial shock and awe to wear off. PGR3 is just so frickin beautiful!

COD2 also looks and runs so much better.
 
The car doesn't look that impressive. In fact, it sort of looks....boxy,...eh..shitty.

I saw screenies that had the cars lookin almost real, what happened?

So do I, and the other 90% of TV owners, because 90% of TV owners own regular, old, 480i televisions.

I currently have a 30" Sony Trinitron and the games *still* look amazing. Granted things aren't as crisp, and the limits of the resolution are obvious, but it is still gorgeous.
 
i just realized why that 360 looked so funny to me.....that white dvd face plate needs to meet mr.spray paint

If you get a game that supports 1080i, then sure. Otherwise, you're stuck with 720p.

Increadable. I hooked this to my TV for shits... HUGE difference. This monitor runs it just as any HDTV in 720p would.

The most common res you will see is only 720p, or 1280x720, but even that looks just fine.

Couse I do. PGR3 is absolutly amazing. The graphics are increadable, and I am really digging the in-dash view. Ive already logged about 4 hours into PGR3, and I am absolutly loving it. PDZ, also good. It had me nervios, there was alot of hype, then alot of "meh", then alot of hype again. I haven't jumped on live yet, but the single player started off fine, and co-op has been a blast. Played a little split screen multiplayer also, and that was as fun as split screen gaming can get. NFS:MW, which is not pictued, is also awesome. Graphics are just as good as on PC, which as you all know are exellent. I am already about 5% done with the game, put a few good hours into it today, really enjoying it.

So far, all games have been worth the money. I should haev more impressions soon. I won $500 to spend on 360 shit over at xboxcircle.com, so im going to be picking up lots of accessories since I got screwed outta a premium bundle, and a few more games. NHL2k6 and Amped 3 for sure. May pick up Qauke 4, ive got it on PC, but I want some live goodness. I'll probably also pick up Kameo, and DOA4 in two weeks when it comes out.

Oh look, you looked at my location; I'm so proud. Do you own a HDTV? If yes, I can understand why your view may be slanted. 90% of TV owners still own regular old 640/480 televisions. Don't be pompous.

Still, I'll probably hook mine up to my 19" monitor, before I ever use the television. I just wanted to know for when I don't feel like playing in the office or bedroom. :D

(Actually, the hard number was that 7% of US Americans own HDTVs in Jan of 2005. I guestimated it'd be around 10-12% now, so about 90%)
 
Add this totally random rant to my previous game impressions....

Not being able to just in PDZ REALLY pisses me off. I want to jump damnit. Mrs. Dark can shoot, roll, zipline, blah blah blah... but yet she cannot jump. What gives? People don't jump in the future? :confused:
 
As the pics are a little blury can you tell us how it compares to the pics posted of thr 2405fpw? How crisp is the picture? blured at all?

i.e. is it worth me spending money on a 2005fpw to replace my viewsonic 171b :D
 
Any way to get a larger image for a few of the still shots? I've have a 2005fpw and want to know if I should get the vga cable whenever I manage a system.

Sorry about the blur, as a said, shitty camera. The fact of the matter is, it looks GREAT! Clean, crisp, colorful, it looks just phenominal. IMO, it looks just as good as any currect PC game. A little more jaggies, but I am used to played at 1680x1050. Trust me, this is as good as it gets for the 360 right now. Looks just as good as any HDTV, minus the fact the screen is only 20"

Can't do much for better images for the reason above. This camera was a budget camera when I got it two years ago, but its all ive got. Trust me though, its worh the $40 for the VGA cable.

Something else cool about the VGA cable that MS doesnt tell ya, it comes with a RCA to Mini-Stereo converter. This means anyone with a nice PC sound system, you can hook your 360 to the line in and get some kick ass sound. Its only stereo, not 5.1 like it would be over the optical, but if you've got PC speakers like me, this is a life saver. Sounds great on my X530s.
 
I've got the Logitech 5300. They would connect to the old xbox. I've not checked but I didn't expect any issues connecting them to the new one.

Normally I run audio through the computer anyway becuase I tend to leave vent going while doing anything around my computer. Never know when someone from the clan might want to game :)

keeping true to the old gameing style of goldeneye and pd, thats how they were, even the gameplay in terms of shooting has resemblence to the predacessor(obviously bad spelling)this isnt halo people this is perfect dark, play the original
 
Since this thread convinced me to pick up a 2005fpw, I wanted to contribute a few pictures of the Xbox 360 running on my display. I'm currently running it off of the VGA cable at 1360x768 in aspect mode. If you all care to see more pictures, I can take some of PD0 running tomorrow.
