Well 3dmark05 im not impressed only 12,549 on my intial run of 05, sometimes it dips lower when running 2 cards vs one on some scenec, But look at these FEAR scores the first one is running everythin Max Settings, 4XAA 16XANIS no Soft Shadows, the second Picture is Soft Shadows Enabled its simply amazing MORE GAMES COMING!

I bet your 3Dmark score is low from cpu bottle necking... if you want higher bench numbers, slap an FX57 in there and OC it to 3.4ghz... then you be seeing the 16k+ scores... I think you'll need something in the 3.2ghz+ range to really tap those cards potential out... and maybe one of those 2x 16x pci-e lane mobos... as you said you were going to get... none the less, you have one of those hottest setups around, just for the sheer video processing power! Color me green with envy. :D

you need to get an opty 180 w.a8n32 sli board and ocz pc4000eb 2 gigs and run 270-280x10 on that opty with those cards.

make sure you use the latest drivers.

The fellow can afford the world's fastest gaming machine, but not internet bandwith?

I'll be picking 2 up soon, I have an opty 146 at 3.1ghz on air, and chilly1 phase change on the way. Should be doing 3.5-3.6ghz 24/7. I also have 2GB redline, which I'll run @ 1GB 275ish mhz 2-2-2-5 for the benchies.

This forum and the nvnews.com forum have been linked all over the place, just check out the view counter. You want to do the math? 12000 views here, alone. Lets just say he has 1MB of pictures up, thats 12, gigabytes of transfer in 3 days, plus all the other links, and people checking more than once. Thats alot of bandwidth for just a couple pics, that and he spent all his money on 2 video cards.

For what he spent on the video cards he could barely afford a DS1 for a month, and I bet that would bog at peak times if it had a review for the 7800gtx512 w/pics.

Or For $12.99/month could have his own domain name and 500GB of transfer/month......actually if he only wanted one domain could get away for $8.99/month.

500GB, eh? Thats not bad, I'm so behind the times with internet pricing, lol. I work at a NOC, and we only really do point-to-point lines, with a few ds1/t1's for internet access. And the above comment was for a good SLA w/unmeterd access to a remote site. Wow, who would sell 500GB for $9/month ? I did the math, and that's 1.4m/bits per second....assuming thats 500 gigabytes, not bits....thats freakin crazy, they should let me host a CS:S server for that much :D

Nuzzles, the prices here aren't THAT bad :p

You can get a 6800 GT for $540ish or a 6800 GS for $420ish

But a 7800 GT $600 wouldn't be a bad choice either ;)

anyways, if you want the cheapest prices in New Zealand, this is the best way to find them:

www. pricespy.co.nz

Well tomorrow I will most likely get my XFX Geforce 7800 GTX 512 megs.

XFX Hong Kong has them in stock already (limited only) but will not sell them until tomorrow morning. I have asked the distributor to keep one for me.

Can't wait to test the beast.

In a couple of hours the NDA will expire and then I will read a few reviews and then tomorrow I will have the card.

Eh, I was just going by memory, and my prefered site for hardware.

And I was refering to the AGP variants.

I pulled my KO off the market at the last minute on a hunch the 512 card would not be available today.

I guess i was correct. Any news?

Yes but for how much. I want EVGA at a reasonable price. I will not pay more than 650. If the stay in the 700 range , I will wait or go sli with KO

phew, 1400 bucks for video cards. I'll stick with my 6600 gt sli since I only play the quake series.

i couldn't help it!! I bougth 2 eVGAs last night and should be getting them in either tomorrow or Wed. Then I can hit up some FEAR goodness...mmmm....

Holy lord those images are large..

lol - damn straight they are. I'm on a 2405FP monitor and I still had to scroll from left to right to view the pics.

man, someone resize them puppies to have some mercy on the dial-up people too.

*on a side note*

I'm actually surprised at the results of that 3DMark run. one of my buddies has a 7800 GTX SLI setup along with a 3700+ and he easily gets like 13K on his '05 runs. surely I wouldve thought that the 512MB cards in SLI flavor would kill his 13K scores.

hmmm......

hes 100% cPU limited. He only has an fx-53.

he only has an FX-53?

good Lord. so now on top of spending $1500 on a 7800 GTX 512MB SLI setup, one needs to spend another grand or so on a CPU?

jeez................

well, while these cards definaltly have more raw fillrate than the 256 version, 3dmark isnt gonna benefit from the added bandwidth or RAM much, its still only running at 1024x768, with no AA or AF, which are bandwidth HOGS.

and, yeah, taht 3700 your buddy has most likely will hit higher speeds than 2.57ghz, no? a cheap opteron would do better than a claw 53 - it lacks SSE3 and sSOI, making its overclocks much, much lower. i believe when the 55 came out with sSOI, it hit a full ghz higher than the 53 ever managed.

someone actually mentioned in another thread that the only people that are really going to benefit from these cards are the people (like myself) who game at higher resolutions like 1920 x 1200.

true or not?

IMO, very true.

its been shown in benchmarks that the only place where the GTX really pulls away from even the GT is in very high resolutions.

i game at 1280, so i snatched up a GT for 319. 460/1.1 too, with free cod2. killer deal :)
