I was wondering what services/providers you guys use for offsite data storage for disaster recovery. Any companies you'd recommend I check out?

we recently started using data protectionn services. their prices are very good, and although their location (new orleans) is not ideal they did survive hurricane katrina without any downtime.

LOL, good plan on choosing a location guys... :p

But the lack of down time has to say something tho...

count me in on another vote for Iron Mountain everyone i know that has used them has had no problems what so ever.

What exactly are you looking for?
Are you looking for a vault you can send your backup tapes to? Or are you looking for something like automated backups to a remote location? Or a live replication of data to an off-site location?
I worked at SunGard Availibility Services last year and I know they do the latter two. They may be out of the budget of most companies though.

we have been using iron mountain for offsite backup tape storage for the past year. in moving to electronic vaulting we considered them, but determined that the price premium was not worth it for us. not to say that you don't get anything for the extra money, but just that it was not something we were willing to pay for.

Probably not backup tapes. We have a few offices, we do a monthly offsite tape backup to one of the offsite locations.

I am looking for either a real time or scheduled offsite data storage company. This is in very early stages, so price may be the deciding factor.

So, it seems like Iron Mountain is the overwhelming choice. Do you guys use them for tape storage or otherwise?

Any other top level companies to consider?

Do you use a SAN? If so you may be able to just do a mirror between your home office and a branch by adding a nearline SAN that uses ATA disks.

We use NetApp SAN and have one at home office that is in production and have one at a Co-Lo that has a complete mirror.

The initial cost is kinda pricey, but the benefits are outstanding.

How much data do you mirror? What kind of connections at these locations? How long does the mirroring take?
