Post your 3dMark 2005 scores here. (Link to list in 1st post)

I haven't updated my motherboard drivers since when I first got my motherboard. I have, however, installed SP2. I re-installed Windows a short while ago, but I think it kept SP2.

I'm at via arena, but I'm not sure what "4 in 1 drivers" I should be looking for.

IF you re-installed over it, you probably need to re-load SP2.

I reinstalled SP2 and got a score of 1646..

What else can I do?

Also.. my motherboard box says Super FSB 333 Socket A.

I'm wondering, should I change the Ram Clock to something else, instead of 133-DDR-266?

Setting the RAM clock to something else would force asynchronous operation, which with Athlon XP processors would hurt performance even more. In other words, using PC3200 DDR memory at 200-DDR400 RAM clock with a DDR266 FSB AMD Athlon XP CPU would lower your 3DMark score even more - from 1646 all the way down to about 1500.

Your Athlon XP 2200+ - like all 2200+'s - is designed for a 133MHz FSB (DDR266). Any memory should also be run at the same actual clockspeed (in this case, 133-DDR266) for the best performance.

Oh, by the way, did you have a ton of background apps running in the Windows taskbar when you ran 3DMark?

Nope. I closed all the applications on the taskbar except trend micro's pc cillin and zone alarm's security suite.

The 3D Mark's test I ran were the defaults -- Game tests G1, G2, G3, and CPU tests 1 and 2. At 1024 x 768.

Is there anything else I can do? Maybe some overclocking on my processor?

1183 after I installed the newest drivers from the nVIDIA site.
I have an AGP card, do you this might have something to do with the poor results?
pci4bz.jpg

definatetly

get NVTweak and use it to open the AGP options panel, and set that thing to AGP 8x mode

as far as my score:
5390.00

Specs:
Abit AN7
AMD AthlonXP-M 2400+ 35W 200x11 w/Thermalright SI-97 + Panaflo 92MM U. High Speed
2x512MB PC2700 DDR333 Dual Channel 2.5-3-3-7 (Yes, I know, It's terrible)
Maxtor 6Y080L0 - HDD0 (7200RPM/2MB Cache/ATA-133)
Maxtor 4K080H4 - HDD1 (5400RPM/2MB Cache/ATA-100)
Leadtek WinFast A400GT TDH 256MB - nVidia 6800GT
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Edition 7.1 (wow, such a long name)

So, there it is, I'm using AGP 8x and iirc that isn't my top score...I think I've broken 5500 but idk, have to try again at that
:p

Hot Sauce,

It looks like you did not have the chipset drivers installed correctly or at all. The Windows XP SP2-supplied VIA AGP driver does not support the KT400 and newer chipsets - it supports only those VIA chipsets up to the KT333. You will need the latest version of the VIA 4-in-1 drivers for your motherboard.

Here is the 4-in-1 drivers page. Be sure to choose either the Hyperion Pro or the Hyperion driver kit (but not both).

Thank you soooo much! I scored a 2865 on 3D Marks now!

Now that's more like it! :D

By the way, which did you do in order to get that higher score?

I did everything you said. But the thing that boosted me up was the 4-in-1 drivers.

Its great now, I can play AOE III with max settings :D :D

He did that (as part of the VIA 4-in-1 driver kit install) after that test. His score is now a 2865 - more in line with other AGP GeForce 6600GT cards. (The AGP 6600GT isn't quite as fast as its PCI-Express counterpart, since the GPU on the AGP version is clocked slightly lower.)

8397, newly built rig as shown in the sig. Everything's running stock now. The strange thing is that it shows my video card is running at 529 rather than 490. So, I'm going to ask a n00b question: Is it normal? or Nvidia just decided the overclock for me?

Now that's more like it, looks like a normal score for your specifications. :)

E4g1e, good work on solving the problem, nice to see helpful people around.

Looks like the update will have to wait for tomorrow night.
Sorry everyone.
I wanted to do it today but I slept too long, then my family went out to eat, and now I have to
go to bed at 8:30 PM so that I can get up at 4:30 AM.

I hope I have not let you down. :(
I have all the scores I need but I won't have the two hours it takes to update the list till
tomorrow night.

mentok man, you will never let me down! your hard work is appreciated, take your time man, get some rest. :)

Really?
I was going to stay up (too late) tonight to do it but with your permission I will wait for tomorrow night.
I have to get up at 5:00AM tomorrow.
Today and tomorrow I have to be in Bethesda (70 miles or 1:30 minutes away) Maryland for Geek Squad Culture Training from 8:00 AM till 5:00 PM.

I will make sure to get home right after I get back from my training instead of "hanging out" with my fellow agents like I did tonight.

Sorry again. :(
Like I said it takes 2 hours for me to update which would mean I would have to be up until 11:00PM!
That is not good for my body.
