I ordered an evga 7800 gt co card from zip zoom fly.. i get it today, it's the non co version. To top it off, the SECOND 7800 gt co card i ordered from zzf a couple days after the first one (for SLI of course) hasn't shipped after a full day of being ordered. SIGH.

I'm sticking to newegg next time... once you know, you newegg

I think people would like to buy from Newegg but there prices arnt the best any more and after changing from FedEx to UPS that got alot of people mad. So like alot of people are looking for other places to buy stuff from. I try to order stuff from sites that dont have a warewhere her in CA. Damn Tax!!!!.

Had i known i was going to be shipped the WRONG ITEM, i would have gladly paid the $10~20 more and ordered from newegg. Price matters, but service and attention to detail does too. I'm going to call up zzf tomorrow and ask that they ship me my two cards overnight at no extra charge. If they don't, I'll never order from zzf again.

Both ZZF and newegg kinda suck. ZZF draws you in with "free 2nd day shipping", which is only free if you consider you time worthless. Last thing I ordered from there took 4+ days to ship out.

Newegg is just a mess, they completely screwed me over on my last order in so many levels. They ended up leaking out my card information according to my bank who sent me a letter about it and a new card.

is that right? hm.. i haven't had a single problem with newegg yet. they ship fast and i've gotten everything i've ordered so far. *knock on wood*

They have both UPS and fedex. I have all my stuff shipped fedex and got free delivery.

I just wish Newegg offered DHL. Though, I'll probaby never order anything from Newegg again, since they dont offer anything special.

Sorry you had a bad experience with ZZF. When you order things online, you are bound to run into a snag from time to time. I recently ordered the parts for an entire computer system from ZZF (everything you see in my sig except for the keyboard and monitor) and had absolutely no problems with anything I ordered. It took them 2 days to process my order, but that's to be expected when you order as much stuff as I did all at once.

The only reason I ordered the parts for my new system from ZZF instead of NewEgg was because all the parts + shipping were substantially cheaper from ZZF.

I ordered pretty much the entire pc in my rig from ZZF (my first ever purchase from them) and saved $ had I bought from newegg and got free fedex shipping. All delivered much quicker to me than my current order from newegg is taking. The only thing I find that sucks with ZZF is that they don't have nearly as many items in stock as newegg.

at my last job, we moved over to dhl for our paycheck shipping, heh, they only got to do it one time, cuz they shipped our paychecks to the wrong state (which one they wouldn't say) so we ended up getting our paychecks two days late. that was the first and last time that they carried our paychecks for us. for me personally, it wasn't a problem because my only bill at the time was CoH, but some other people that i worked with live paycheck to paycheck so i imagine it was a problem. i'm not saying DHL is crap, everyone screws up eventually, i was just chiming in. people that should screw up less often though are manufacturers of computer parts, every video card that i have ever ordered (sapphire radeon 900pro, BFG ti-4200 agp8x, msi 6800nu agp, nvidia 6800nu pcie) i have had to rma because it was either doa, or had a premature failure of some sort. and, i had to rma an epox 9nda3 motherboard after only 3 days. i have bad luck but also, that fact that one person can get so much defective stuff means that there must be a high rate of badly manufactured products.

most of my parts come from ZZF because its just cheaper, i save like 60 bucks just by not going to newegg. thank you, anandtech real-time price monitor

I have spent well over $5000.00 with www.newegg.com and I will always order from them for any major part I buy, and I disagree about prices, most of the time they are spot on. I had multiple bad experiences with zip zoom fly, there customer service SUCKS. I ordered ram from them, and I got no conformation e-mail from them for 2 whole days, I emailed them, got no response for another 2 days, I then made sure nothing was charged on my card, and I bought the stick from www.newegg.com instead and then low and behold about a day after zip zoom charged my card for the ram even after I had said to cancel it. and sent me the RAM so I had to send it back AT MY EXPENSE ! sry but for me www.newegg.com cause once you know, you newegg ;)

Also another thing about www.newegg.com I have never seen a company that was just so helpful and does not even question you when you have somthing to RMA back. I had to RMA a HD, RAM, and a VID card to them and they replaced all, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. And I did not purchase any kind of extended warranty or anything and all this equipment I had purchased about 8-12 months before. If that ain't awesome I don't know what is

kinda along the same lines as the OP, what are some online retailers that are generally accepted as "quality" vendors?

I know there's:

Newegg
ZZF
Directron
MWave
Monarch Computer

anyone else have an online vendor to add to the list?

i'm going to be in the market soon for a new vid card, and want some options as to where to start looking

I use New Egg,ZZF,and Monarch.
New Egg is fast, good prices, and RMA is no problem
Monarch is fast and reliable, good prices on most things.
ZZF has good prices but shipping is way to slow, has always taken them 2 or 3 days just to procees my order,i dont use them unless i'm not in a hurry for my stuff. I believe they sometimes dont have the item in stock when they say they do,and have to obtain it and thats why it takes so long to ship. DOUG

yeah... the egg is so much easier when dealing w/ DOA, RMA, and wrong product shipping. although no one wants these things to happen, it does. in my experience i've yet to get anything from there that i didn't have trouble sending back. and yes I'll still order from monarch and ZZF(if its really worth it). But i learned my lesson a long time ago for ordering from other shady retailers, "you get what you paid for". moral of the story, "don't order from a place that tranfers your calls to india for customer support"

Hey, it could be worse- you could be ordering from Tiger Direct. :D

I order from ZZF and Newegg- no problems yet (crosses fingers).

ive spent well over $15,000 in the past 5 years with newegg. However, they have gone down hill as of late. Prices are no longer the best, shipping is no longer cheap, service is no longer excellent.

Now whenever i buy anything, i just look for the best price. I miss how the egg was back in 2002. :(

only good thing about newegg is the pictures and search engine on their site. Newegg tends to have a lot of old stock too. I ordered BGA ram and got TSOP which was a discontinued item, returned for the correct item and got the same TSOP, oh well.

ZZF is not bad, I like ordering my hdds from there because they package them nicely and have newer stock.

ZZF is somewhat inconsistent. I've ordered from them and had parts go out right away, like they should. And other times that 2 day shipping turns into 4 days because they took an extra day to ship it.

spent over $50,000 at newegg. I use them because they are fast and reliable.
If I order a part friday before 12pm their time, I can be assured itll arrive monday or tuesday
If I order wednesday it usually ships that day and I get it Friday.

So I called zzf just now. They want to e-mail me a shipping label to use to ship the wrong one back to them. It may take 1 or 2 business days for me to get this label. Then the acutal shipping will take another 2-3 days I would think. Then it will take another 2-3 days for them to "process" the return when they get it. Then another 2-3 days for me to get the RIGHT card back. W T F.

NEVER ORDERING FROM ZZF EVER AGAIN.

xoxide is good.
performance pc is great, for the type of things they carry. i have ordered things from them that are wrong for my system, they check their database and email(like immediately) me to let me know, and will not ship until i confirm. thats personal service.
monarch runs hot and cold. pre ordered and got a few rev e's last may before anywhere else even had in stock, month or 2 ago it took them almost 3 weeks to send me my 2 evga 7800gt's(was in stock according to the site) both had free mainboards, but 1 was an nf41 and the other was an nf43. i ordered an opty 146 wednesday morning, it will be here tomorrow.
been ordering from newegg since it was egghead and cant remember ever having an issue, i have 11 pages of invoices on my account at about 5 or ten invoices per page.
last few packages from newegg were ups, they were on time. fed ex was often a day or so early, also fedex delivers around here on saturday, ups does not.

hhmmm i've had good experience with newegg myself. never ordered from anywhere else. most recently i got an evga 6800gt that had a piece fall off in the box! and got a bad stick of ram as well (1GB was reporting as 512MB) and they processed the RAM very fast, the vid card took a bit longer understandably cause it was physically broken but they sent out new ones for both (i think i got a new vidcard anyway, it's still on UPS). As much as I dislike UPS I'll still shop at newegg...

Newegg is reliable, never dissapoints. Problem with the egg is their prices aren't as good as they used to be. On top of that, they charge tax and shipping.

MonarchComputer is my hero. No CA tax and free shipping on some items. But they're slow.. If you want something that week, you have to order on/before Monday for it to arrive by Friday. Made many-a-orders at MC.

Lastly, I've made two purchases at TigerDirect. They're apparently infamous for not honoring their rebates, but then again, who are the people complaining? The one's that recieved the rebate aren't, so take whatever rebate horror stories with a grain of salt. TD has insane prices every now and then on a few items (namely videocards) and don't charge tax.

Called zzf back, told them i want a full refund rather than a replacement card. I just hope the 2nd card they shipped (which should be here tomorrow) is the right damn card. I'm going to give them so much shit if the second one is the wrong one too.

Went and placed an order for the card on newegg for next day delivery. Go newegg!

I like zzf better but I wish they offered UPS. Fedex is way better but UPS just drops packages off and I don't have to be there.

For the last ~6 months or so newegg has been raising their prices and dropping their service. The newegg of old is gone.

Newegg won't exchange an item for something else, only like same. That said they say on their website it's OK to order a different one and then just ask for an RMA for refund on the one you don't want. Which is basically an exchange for something else in a roundabout way, kinda odd that. Ofcourse if you're past the time period you can't request the refund - you're screwed then.

I'm not real thrilled about the restock fees these companies charge. I understand their modus operandi but I don't have to like it. To me, if a motherboard comes to me and it's defective, if I want a refund for it I shouldn't be penalized 15% for something that isn't MY fault. It is borderline unethical, IMO.

LOL- I picked UPS 3 day by mistake on an order I placed this weekend at newegg.

They show it origin scanned on 10/23 at newegg (I guess) and I check its progress on 10/25 on UPS tracking it says "On time, delivery date 10/27"!

LOL- UPS blows goats. I would have had it Tuesday if I had picked FedEx, Wednesday at the latest. Instead, I got it today. F*** you UPS. ;)

BTW- I sent them an email inquiring about this two days ago, they ignored it. I've emailed this thread to newegg shipping, hopefully they'll have more luck talking to UPS than I did. (I somehow doubt it though, I'm envisioning a warehouse full of men in brown shorts drinking beer and laughing at my email saying "Hahaha! What the heck is he talking about? 4-5 days is three days on MY calendar! Hahahahaha!"

Monarch has this one EXTREMELY lame aspect of their combo policy, where they say they won't put on any thermal paste (what the fuck??) unless you specifically order some weird-named thermal goop, for which they charge $14, and don't even tell you if it is just for one application, or if you will actually get the bottle too.

ok, you DO know you can still get your stuff shipped through FedEx at Newegg, right? UPS is just an option....you can choose either FedEx or UPS (and i'll choose FedEx every time, cause UPS sucks donkey balls, IMO).

dude, you can get FedEx to do that also....all you gotta do is ask the delivery guy for a form to fill out authorizing it, and they can drop it off from then on, if you're not there at the time of delivery....i know, cause i did the same thing :D

at least as far as Newegg is concerned, if the product is defective, you don't have to pay the restocking fee....you only have to pay the restocking fee if the item is free from defects (i.e., you just didn't like the product, or realized you used your rent money to buy it....)

meh....just tell them not to pre-assemble it, and put on your thermal paste of choice yourself

I don't know about getting things shipped from monarch computers, but their local shop is crap. I live about 30 minutes from them so I try to check their prices and stock before I order online. I called them 3 times last week looking for 3 different cases they had "in stock" on their website - none of them were in stock at the store front. They were only available for drop shipments from warehouses. If you're not going to stock shit, why even bother having a store front at all? ugh.

Fed EX will drop packages as well if you leave them a note with your signature.
