I just recieved my very own 2405, what an amazing screen. No dead pixels, no backlight bleeding, no buzzing, however the thing i am concerned with is that the actual lcd panel is EVER so slightly crooked, i mean like 1 nanometer. It took me 1 day to see it, but I finally found a problem. Not sure if this is normal and within spec or what. Anyone else have this situation?

What do you mean by crooked? Is it tilted/leaning to one side? If that's what you mean, it's pretty common for the 2405 stands to be tilted a bit.

no the panel itself inside the casing is ever so slightly crooked, ie if you look at the side of the screen instead of straight it is slightly crooked.

So if what you're saying is true you have some superior perception power there my friend

That shouldn't really bother you, if it does just re-attach the panel to the stand and make sure it's in securely. Don't forget the FPW will lean in plenty of directions since it can go Up, Down, Left, Right, Side to Side , vertical *head explodes*

im not expaining this properly...if you look at an lcd there is a tiny bit of screen on each side that displays nothing...this part is crooked very slightly

He is trying to say that the LCD panel behind the plastic coating, is crooked. Not the frame, or the Monitor itself.

It's like a picture frame and the picture was crooked, but not the glass covering it and not the frame. The picture in this case is the collection of LCDs.

Am I making sense out of this?

IMHO, your gonna have to live with it, try ever so cautiously to fix it or return it. I recommend returning it if you can't fix it. You will always notice it. It's like a dead pixel once you know its there, you always check to see if its still there. It won't bother you all the time, but everyday you will notice it at least once.

exactly what i was trying to say. i'm debating returning it...i will notice it constantly.

LOL, i just checked my 2405 and i have the same thing. On the top right of the screen there is about a 1mm black area between the edge of the desktop and the bezel. Yet at the mottom right the desktop is right upto the bezel. Left side is fine

I've had mine about 2-3 months now and have never noticed it till i read this topic.

Bizzarre. Now its gonna bug me to hell :D

Um yeah...if my $800 toy was screwed up like that I couldn't live with it either.

Wow. i just got my replacement which i ordered for the tilt...it is ten fold worse on the new one! the top left and bottonm right corners are literally behind the bezel...wtf? Hmm $800 monitor. Do any other 2405FPW owners see this problem? how hard can it be to line up the panel with the bezel. Looks like the first one is going to be kept.

edit heres some pics:

top. see the space.

bottom: No space, practically obscured!

yeah dell has some quality control issues to deal with...although despite any problems, you will be amazed when it comes...

Did you try to press the Menu ▶ Positioning ▶ Zoom button on your display? That way you can zoom out a bit and make it less noticeable. :)

I'll bet you Dell tilted it on purpose to compensate for the stand tilt that affects almost every 2405 .. If the LCD was perfectly positioned, the image would most likely be visibly crooked because of the tilting stand .. this was just a quick fix

I could be wrong

haha i just got my 2405 last night and its perfect! no dead pixels and no back light bleeding

i feel so lucky
