What's up with the Egg going to UPS as the default shipper? UPS is always 'ON TIME', never early, at least in my experience. FedEX is usually faster and probably 70% of the time a day early, again where I live which is in NC.

Anyone else noticed this?

UPS probably had the lower bid. Companies that do alot of shipments like Newegg usually have contracts with carriers and when the contracts are up, they negotiate with the various carriers for prices and the lowest bidder gets the new contract. That's how it's done at the company I work for anyway.

I agree though, UPS sucks compared to FedEx. In my area, almost every package that's delivered by UPS is damaged beyond belief and it's amazing that the contects survive.

I'll still always pay a few extra bucks for Fedex. UPS is a joke. They will NOT deliver packages to my address unless someone is there. I even filled out their form saying they can, and I leave notes saying for them to but they always take it back to the UPS warehouse. Assholes. Plus, they aren't as fast as FedEx

I also agree

I ordered something last wednseday and it shipped out wednseday via "3-day" shipping

I just got it about 15 mins ago, 5 business days later

UPS sucks hard

UPS delivers when they say they will. FedEx gives a safe date put gets things there a bit early. My uncle works for FedEx Ground. There internal goal is 3 days coast to coast, but will tell you 4 to 5 days when you do that.

FedEx ground is my preferred shipper as it will help keep my uncle employed.

Had a UPS and FEdex delivery yesterday...

Fedex knocked and waited for my wife to answer.

UPS put the sticer on the dorr and knocked and ran.

Bahaha, I love that. I remember UPS was suppose to deliver a package one day and it was getting late. All of a sudden, I hear a truck pull up, 2 honks from the truck, the guy runs to the door with a box in his hand and leaves it next to the door, knocks on the door and runs off to the truck.

but still it sux they got it to you a day late. saturday isnt officially a business day btw

I just recieved some stuff from Newegg via UPS yesterday. As always, the box looks like it's been kicked down a flight of stairs, and has shit spilled on it. I don't know about UPS in your area, but they suck ass in my neck of the woods.

He received it the 5th business day...
Shipped - Wed
Bus Day 1 - Thurs
Bus Day 2 - Fri
Bus Day 3 - Mon
Bus Day 4 - Tue
Bus Day 5/Recv'd - Today...

but I digress. UPS blows goats. Knock and run, damaged articles, those things made me hate them. What made me absolutely boycott them was this. A friend of mine is in sales for a medical supply company. After hurricane Katrina, like right after, his company wanted to ship in several tons of medical supplies to New Orleans and the surrounding areas. UPS refused to ship the materials to the area because it was too dangerous. FedEx ended up delivering those supplies and at a huge discount to what they would normally charge (think they charged for fuel and the drivers). And check out the Oct 3 issue of Fortune magazine to see who stepped up (FedEx) and who didn't even earn a mention.

Yea, my replacement Antec NEOhe550 is IN Columbia, SC since yesterday afternoon. I live in frigin Charlotte which is about 1 1/2 hours from Columbia. What the f&#% are they doing sittin' on it. You'd think if they could deliver it early that they'd be glad to get rid of it and move on. Geez. FedEX would have had it here TODAY for the same $6.99 that I payed for shipping.

i've had equally good or bad experiences with both companies, although fedex has generally been more reliable. However, in my current building, UPS is willing to leave packages with the apt. manager while fedex isn't, meaning that I have to go pick up packages at the depot (40 min away). Therefore, I do UPS when possible.

also, I really think that its more about the people than the companies. I've gotten UPS packages that were in great condition while fedex packages were busted beyond recognition. one advantage i've had with UPS is that the same driver stays on the route, so i got to know him and he was great about taking care of stuff for me (once when he knew I was waiting for something, he called me the morning it was on his truck to let me know to be home...now thats kickass service :) )

d'oh, I just ordered a 6600GT with UPS shipping. I thought that was rather odd too. The worst part about living in an apartment building, imo, is that it's near impossible to get stuff dropped off, be it fedex or ups. For me they both just stick something on the door and run away.

I shipped a package via UPS 3 day from CT to Nevada. Sent it on a Friday, they got it on Tuesday.

Last week, I ordered a laser printer from newegg, it shipped out wednesday night and arrived thursday afternoon. ups 3 day delivery in about 18 hrs. I've not had issues with any delivery service.

o_0

it shipped wed.

sooo.. thursday, friday, monday, tuesday, wed
that sure looks like 5 days to me

edit: beaten like a red headed stepchild

Gah, this blows. If they had to change, why couldn't they change to something like DHL? At least they don't treat packages like they're made out of concrete.

yeah! yesterday I got my order in from newegg via UPS and the box looked all nasty like someone dragged it about a dirty floor.Which I only discovered after have thrown it onto my bed!

Yeah I hate UPS. I ordered Warhammer 40k : DoW from THQ a few days ago. Once the package got into town, UPS stopped updating the tracking info. So I never knew when the package got on the truck or anything. To top it off, they didnt get to my house until like after 6pm. They also did the knock and run thing. Very shady those UPS guys.

UPS sucks, they don't update their tracking info either unless they "have time" for it. I ordered something, they delivered it two days late, didn't update the tracking info for five days (it was in transit for 7 days, or 9 if you coun't the weekend) I called them twice and all they could tell me if they might have lost my package. Every box I receive from them also seems to ALWAYs have a massive hole in it like someone has kicked it.

ISNT DAT VERID?

I call shenanigans on Newegg.

So true, my packages always look smashed like hell when I get them from ewiz, I always jump when I see them all fkd up and theres an expensive cpu somewhere in there.

All I know, If I have a Choice I am going with Fed Ex. Seems everytime I get a package with UPS it always comes with gouges and smashed corners! Every package I have gotten with Fed Ex looks like it was handles with reasonable care. I dont know why the UPS packages look so beat up, maybe they need to redo there automated sorting equipment or something. I would really like to see a Review of sorts comparing these 2 companies, heck even throw in DHL. Ship several packages from one point to another and back, Take pics of the Before and After, I think you will see that UPScomes oput on the bottom!
Hey Kyle! How about it?

gotta agree UPS sucks.. just took them 6 days to get me a 3 day shippment... to say the least Ill never use them again.

UPS does suck...But i recently met an industrial engineer that works for UPS here in central florida and from what he told me UPS is really stepping shit up and hopes to take over shipping for the whole world- And quality shipping to boot. We'll see....

For some reason, the UPS delivery lady and the Fedex delivery lady look EXACTLY the same. Maybe theyre twins....or clones or something :/

I think they'll get the hint when they get their monthly sales report.
lol, yes I'm sure they're going to see a HUGE decrease in sales from offering UPS as an optional carrier

Lets get a "Go back to FedEx" thread going for Newegg and see if they'll hook us up. I don't care who backs UPS funk them, they are shit in my area, kicking my parcels off the trucks and being dicks.

When I get fedex, they bring it to my door, greet me politely, have me sign, and I get a package that looks as good as it did coming out of the Egg warehouse.

God bless you FedEx, I love you.

I just recieved some parts shipped UPS that were damaged. They lost a bunch of money replacing the parts and shipping them for free than if they would have shipped them UNDAMAGED.

Why you gotta be breakin balls?

I can't afford FedEx and I will not ship UPS. Others who can afford it will only ship FedEx. So when NewEgg realizes they and/or UPS are losing money on this deal something is bound to change. Wether it be UPS's Quality or NewEgg's Primary carrier.

The fed ex 3day thing is what made NewEgg stand out in my opinion.
I just got a shipment of free crap from them lic plate and a t-shirt. sent UPS it arrived OK but the best part is inside the ups box was a fedex box. so it seems they cant make up the mind yet.

I've always had nothing but good luck with FedEx Saver from Newegg. Even with the cheapest FedEx shipping my stuff often arrives early and always in perfect condition. I'll keep on ordering that way even if it costs more.

i agree with everyone: ups has lousy service. stick with fedex or usps.

No you don't, I have had zero issues with either carrier. I'm amazed at the bickering that has come up lately about this. Actually my last two shipments from UPS have been here a few days early. mine says it's in east syracuse as of 630 this morning, and my guess is, they'll have it to my office by mid day. this is 1-5 day ground shipping. the last one was 3 day shipping that arrived at my house 18 hrs after it shipped. I guess i'm just lucky geographically with a warehouse just outside of my state, so shipping is quick and I don't end up having to pay the NY sales taxes right away.

I'm sure it is all part of a negotiated deal. The company I work for is always bouncing back and forth between UPS and FedEx, playing the carriers off each other. Seems like every other month we get word from the VP to "Ship everything UPS!" or "Ship everything FedEx!" just because one company is offering them a volume discount slightly better than the other, as long as we hit that "volume" (sounds like Intels practices against AMD, but I digress).

We also have some sensitive equipment that we've found that we can't ship via UPS any way other than second day air because they'll end up destroyed otherwise. What's up with that?

As for local (home) service, the FedEx guy is awesome. He actually remembers when I get home and will make a return visit the same day to deliver a package that he initially left a tag on the door for. Of course, he did mention something about OT one time... :;)

Sure everything is relative to where you live. My gripe is if FedEx can get it to me a day early from California then why can't UPS?

I sent Newegg an email asking why they've changed, but I've only gotten the generic response email so far.

Ok, I'm assuming Newegg was losing money with the FedEX Express Saver because I checked an item that would have cost $12.49 for FedEX Express Saver and only $6.99 for 3 Day UPS. I'm not sure they're comparable, but it may just be a business decision on the bottom line, of course at our expense.

Edit:
From Newegg's shipping info.:

FedEx Express Saver - Delivery within 3 business days.

UPS 3 Day - Delivery within 3 business days.
