For the past week, my pc has been restarting iself ever couple of hours of so. Sometimes I will turn it on and within 20 minutes it will just restart. Other times I can spend hours on EverQuest and it does nothing. What is going on? It is really getting on my nerves.

first place I would look at is your power supply. what are you running and what is the wattage rating on your PSU?

I don't acually remeber what I am running. The power supply is the only thing in this case that was not replaced.

I would check the wattage on your PSU, if your PC components are modern (ie. Athlon XP or higher or a newer P4) then you should have at least a 350 watt PSU, I would recommend a 400 watt PSU or higher to be on the safe side.

Firstly is your CPU overclocked? If not then probably the PSU. If not the PSU then probably the memory.

If it happens only when gaming then its probably the video card

i don't bother to overclock, AMD's run so fast you don't need to anymore. It keeps restarting, So i am going to buy a new power supply and see if that is it. The one I am using is pretty old and should have been replaced some time ago.

I just hope you bought a decent quality one or your problems may persist or get worse later on down the line when the PSU dies and takes your hardware with it.. so what kind did you get?

i made the mistake of buying a compusa brand power supply once (was poor and it was cheap). the voltage in my ram would fluctuate between 3 and 3.7 constantly! as soon as i discovered that i went back and bought an antec.

There are limited choices here, we don't have any decent computers shops. Nor do we have a Best Buy, or similar type stores. The one I bought is a WPower. It is a 480W, and has been running smooth all day. I am gonna spend the night running EverCrack so that sould be a good first test. And hey, if it pops and kills everything, I just will build a new system. heh.

Ahhh, another Norrathian. Were the heat sinks clean when you opened up the case. It could be something as simple as overheating due to dust.
