New Steam Interface

I just upgraded to Catalyst 5.10's and when I rebooted I noticed that Steam had a new interface.

Personally I can't stand it and it takes up more of my screen real estate.

I was wondering if anyone else had additonal feedback on this.

I think steam has to restart for this update to take place.

yeah this severly pisses me off. All that time I spent building a steam skin for our CS clan and Steam just throws it out the window. !!!!!!!!s. There isnt even an option to use the old interface.
 
I'm digging it. The main window is a little longer but it's width is shorter, which doesn't bother me. Go valve.

I think that the lack of an option to use the old interface is what bothers me the most.
 
I'm actually liking the changed interface, alot more user friendly IMO.
 
At first I was a little bothered by it because it was this huge explosion of crap at once. Then after switching to normal views, and what not I find it not too bad. Hopefully they'll release a Silver version of it, because that's what I was using before.
 
i dont really care since you dont see it, but i much prefer having an option to go back and forth, also the new skin is only in the windows enviroment, not within games
 
I dont really see why some people are pooping their pants about it. its basically the same thing. Its just a bit more bubbly. I'm liking it alot actually.

Something new to bash Valve and complain about.
 
I like the fact that you can search for servers without even logging into a game. It is rather large though.

Um.... you could do that with the old version too.

I kinda like it. It fits in a bit better with the rest of my XP theme, so that's a nice plus. I do want the silver version though.

 
the UI is alright, don't actually use it much, besides that, it does seem to have gotten some well deserved optimizations so its working a bit faster.
 
FFS :mad:

I finally had steam WORKING.....now I go to load steam today and I get the same problem I had before. It stalls at the "Now logging into <account name>" screen. It wont load steam :mad:

I really dont want to have to deal with another support request only to have it sit there for 5 days before I get a mass reply :mad: :mad:

I went to try and make a support request because I rebooted and I still cant connect to Steam. However I login to my oft used support account and I can neither update my previous support request (with the same problem) nor can I create a new question. They wont even LET me get support anymore :mad:

I am about ready to sell my steam ID and use the money to buy a grenade to hurl into Gabe Newells office lol.

I have 0 problems with Steam whatsoever.
 
this new steam update made my monitor shatter and glass fragments flew into my face
 
This is kinda off topic but when is Sin Episode one getting released on Steam. I have a feeling games like that is why the new version was released.

except i was jacking to some p0rn, n the glass shards severely severed my urethra n i spewed blood n i just got back from the hospital cuz they stitched up me jimmy.

Your Cat 5.10s didn't install the new interface, so why make a correlation between the new drivers and the new UI?

Steam's UI bugs the hell out of me. Besides being crappily laid-out with an over-dependence on right-clicking, why the hell does it use a custom design and layout? Valve, I can understand wanting to differentiate your product, but why not simply make the dark green look available as a pre-installed skin? I have WindowBlinds. Let it skin Steam!
 
I really couldn't care less how the interface looks, since I just pop open the servers window, rarely looking at any of the others.

What pisses me off about it is that every time Steam makes some little update to the interface, for some reason it wipes all my favorites, and all my in-game settings. I have to remap all my bindings, put my custom spray back in place, fix my name back in there, the whole shebang!
 
Blows.

Takes up more room with no additional functionality justifying it.
Does not allow for the older skin.
Takes up more twice as many resources as the former skin (still minor but nonetheless not good design)

I'll be searching for a downloadable Classic skin.

i've had steam running for two days straight, Iim afraid to turn it off, I will have to update my account, and get the new interface..........owell, its not that bad :D

I do however prefer the older interface, only because it looks more professional!
 
While I like the UI, it borked my install. Now I get this whenever I load it:

I run a clean box, so no spyware/viri issues. Any ideas on a fix? I checked the steam forums and I didn't see this issue anywhere.
