I'm trying to install custom drivers I downloaded for my Linksys WMP54G. If I go into the device manager and try to update from there, it just says I don't need those drivers cause my current ones are better. If I uninstall the card and scan for new hardware or reboot, it just automatically installs the Linksys ones without giving me any say.

Is there any way I can install these custom drivers? Thanks

Uninstall it and try the Add Hardware wizard in the Control Panel.

Tried, it just automatically installs the Linksys drivers without asking me.
That means you don't have them completely uninstalled.

Yes and no. Just uninstall the device and then reinstall it. When prompted specify the driver you want to install. Browse to the driver and select it.

Voila.

I did uninstall the device. If I do that though, whenever I scan hardware changes or reboot, the little speech bubble in the corner says "Found new hardware, Linksys blah blah, Your new hardware is ready to use!" and I don't even get the new hardware screen. But... I'll try driver cleaner.

Just use "Update Driver" in Device Manager, for crimeny's sake.

And do the I have a specific location or have disk options don't let it auto search.
