I am wondering with the Newegg Refurbished motherboards what accessories do you get with them. It says nothing comes with them, but I figure they have to at least give you the backplate...right ?

I have bought 5 refurb mobos from Newegg. My Abit BE6 and IS7 came full retail box along with a Soltek a64 board that I just purchased. The other 2 were a Asus P4C800e and Abit IC7 and both came board only.

Can you tell by the price if it has the accessories? I got a butt cheap refurbed video card one time with no accessories. Other times the price isn't as far off as the retail and came with everything.

I havn't bought a mobo, but I've gotten several other things from newegg refurbed.

Everything I got came full retail package. But that is no promise.

You are only guaranteed what is required to run. And with a mobo, thats just hte mobo. Anything else is a pleasent suprise.

Alot of the products are not tested either, and like has been said, you could get a dead product and end up spending alot of time shipping it back to manufacterer or newegg for replacement

Here is an example of the difference I am talking about:

New

Refurb

There is a $46 difference between the two. I wouldn't buy a refurb for a $10 or $15 savings, but this is significant enough to allow me to get a better video card.

I got a MSI k8n neo2 platinum refurb from newegg. I recieved a whitebox with only the motherboard, no cables, backplate, or usb/firewire brackets, I really don't mind as I already have lots of stuff from previous rigs.

No performance/stability issues at all.

The only sucky thing is if you don't get an I/O backplate. The rest pretty much doesn't matter.

Though I do at times ask myself where the egg gets these vast quantities of refurbished boards. Just DFI refurbished alone seem to be a whole lot.

Have you overclocked it?

Motherboards are usually returned for different reasons. Sometimes they just dont overclock enought to suit them so they RMA it to get a different one which isnt a bad thing because you get a working board. This is especially with performance boards more so than just plain ones. Some times a buyer kills a board with a bad flash, which doesnt work at all which is probably the problem with mine. New Egg does not test returned merchandise, they just throw it in a box and resell it, they do want you to get a working item so theres no problem in returnig it if it doesnt.

Yup

It has an Athlon64 3000+ @ 2.25 ghz, it reaches up to 2.5+ghz with no additional cooling, but I settled for 2.25 cause the memory can run at 200mhz with fast timings.

My recent order refurb mobo (Gigabyte GA-7N400S-L) came barebones, not even an I/O shield (backplate). The I/O shield cost $12 shipped from Gigabyte! Which was fine because I got the refurb mobo for $25.

I would also like too add that I bought a refurb mobo before the Gigabyte, an Asus K8, which came with everything (retail boxed).
