do you get your parts for free or discount?
bought with at full price, $150. do a bit of poking about and you'll find places to buy them. i got mine from a guy who works in the distibution channel, so he had easy access to them :D

I'm looking to put together a home server for folding and file serving with a MSI Neo4 Platinum and a Venice 3000+. However, this looks like a better fit and at $150, a better deal too. I did some searching and all the places I find around that price are out of stock. Would you mind hooking up a fellow folder for the [H]orde where you obtained such a price? (63553 score as of today)

;)

water helps though. 2.8ghz is almost prime atable with 1.55v. i'm about to see how it keeps scaling with voltage over 1.55v :D

Will these work in all s939 boards with/without bios flash? Or is it hit and miss? How about a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe ;) ?

A week after I bought a 3700+ San Diego...

Geez, can't I be happy with an upgrade for longer than a few days?!

This wait is killing me, I caved in and got a Venice 3200+. I guess I'll sell that and get this badboy when ZZF or the egg gets it in.

should be fine without a bios flash.. it seems to simply be a different name, no real differences to the core :D

I posted a new thread on it, cus i never saw this one, but hey. How good are these things at gaming and stuff? i can get them dirt cheap here in the uk. Might be added to my shopping list if the price is right

How much is dirt cheap in the UK and are they available? Nobody has them in stock here right now. Maybe you could pick a couple up and deal out to a few of us. :)

I so want one of those... How does it perform in games compared to the 3000+ venice?

already asked skudmonkey. Noone has answered yet.
On second thought the 146 is £152, i can get a 3500+ venice for the same price, without the 1Mb cache tho.
The 3000+ venice is only £88
THe 144 is £117

compare the 3500+ venice and 3700+ san diego at stock. the difference between those two will be similar to the difference between the 144 and 3000+ :D

reasonable prices.

Thanks for the link and all but it looks like they will sell here for about 155.00, link is for 175.00 US approx, right? Throw international shipping on top of that (I know doesn't apply to you) and this becomes a bleaker situation for those of us in the states. Guess we will have to be patient. :) Pretty cool you can get one now though!

How does a Venice compare to a San Diego would be the better question.
The Opteron core (venus) is the same thing with a different name now in s939.

Basically if u could hit 2.8 stable you would have an FX-57. Performance would be identical.

I might pick one of these up for the extra Cache and hopefully a few more MGz. I'd like to know how other people are doing with these chips though..

eclipse, why you making another of these flashy "i have a 939 opty" threads lol i think by now everyone knows you have an awesome opty. when i get my 146 tomorrow i'll try and post up some results

most likely you'll own me. everyone else i see with a 144 is doing ~150-300mhz better than i am.

yea well i want one you rat bastard. im not changin my mobo and vid card till waaaay into the next set of socket transition, so ima eventually need supn thats gone thru a ton of evolution and fine tuning to be a top line performer at s939.

anyhoo, this looks pretty good eclipse. i might have to hop up on that. if only for the better mem controller goddamn.

sadly i have nothing to really test the memory controller with. i need two more 512mb sticks to see how it does with 4x512mb, that'll be a good test.

hahah thx for hte link man. been checkin your site lookin for updates about that cpu + of course following the oc guide.

i'll get part 2 up soon, i might have to do a part 3 when i get a new mobo, depending on how things work out :D

Nice work eclipse. Looks like I might have just found myself the sweet beginnings of a budget gaming system.....

Keep us updated.

damn i want to get my hands on these opterons. Does anybody know any store in southern california that's selling these?

already answered your question. post #5 :p

hey, just so people know, you can find places to buy these s939 opterons by just going to froogle and typing in "socket 939 opteron." You should probably check the seller rating on reseller ratings though. Just thought I would point this out to people wanting to know where they can buy them.

Comment on Froogle search, ALL of these etailers are not in stock and will not have them until 10/12. Saving you some time, as I still can't get one. :(
