I don't know guys, I tried these and like them. Fastest yet in Far Cry I have tried, even faster than the LAME shadow bugged 81.26's.....but these seem to be rendering shadows properly!!!!

And check out the pic of XP task manager...this is right after playing Far Cry...I have affinity assigned to cpu 1, as you can see it is 100% loaded....normally cpu 2 stays 1% to 2%...but look....cpu 2 is now actually doing some work, and I am also seeing ~2c or 3c higher cpu load temps....that second cpu IS doing something extra now....what ya think?

This might be the magical smp driver we have been hearing about...more game testing going on now...it is looking GOOD....oh yeah, it also has the new control panel too... go to the driver folder and double click nvcplui.exe.

And 3DM05 scores rose ~250pts....not a bad increase as long as shadows are being rendered properly, and they appear to be....games seem to benefit the most though...more to come inthe morning, and some graphs of actual gameplay....

These dual core drivers are just exploding all over the place. I just picked up the 81.33s 2 days agon. And now the 81.40s and 81.82s are avialable. Meh, I am going to get the best and then follow an: If it ain't broke don't fix it policy.

The greatest policy in the world. After my Direct X disaster of 2001 I said thats the last time I update something till a game tells me I have to.

OP Do you have a Link to them by chance? Is their a XP64 driver by chance.

Well, these ones should be solid. They are the leaked NDA drivers supplied to the press that were to be released officially on Tuesday.

Isnt that when the X1800 is suppost to be launching? Looks like nvidia is planning to spoil someones party ;).

Benchmarks, NOW! I'd like to see:

Far Cry
Doom 3
Half-Life 2
Battlefield 2
DoD:S
FEAR
3Dmark03/05 (yeah it's syntheic, but I still like to see what a card can do)

OK, my first bench of Far Cry...hit the pic link, it has the settings listed...but basically very high settings on everything with Multisampling 4xAA and 8xAF....and the shadows work nicely in this driver version.

And no pic, but this is from the initial run of 3DM05:

Benchmark

Anti-Aliasing Quality 0
Texture Filtering Optimal
Max Anisotropy 4

3DMark Score 8693 3DMarks Game Tests
GT1 - Return To Proxycon 37.7 FPS Game Tests
GT2 - Firefly Forest 26.6 FPS Game Tests
GT3 - Canyon Flight 41.8 FPS Game Tests

these had better not be the lock-up studder fix nf3/6800 series drivers. my damn ati card will be here monday

Here is two Doom3 runs...1280x1024, "very high" settings, Multisampled 2xAA and 8xAF,NV control panel to "highest"....second run is the same EXCEPT for multisampled 4xAA....used FRAPS to capture the log...charts to come in a bit....

ok - I will have to give these a whirl... they seem pretty solid. hrm... I can always back out to 78.03 is need be. :)

wait a sec... where to download?

OK, I disabled one of the cpu cores and am getting some more benches...

Click the pic link, it has the details in it...

1280x1024, multisample 2xAA 8xAF, 2.5ghz, 7800GTX @488/1300 w/ 81.82
http://img17.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d3single17gp.jpg (single core)
http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d316po.jpg (dual core)

1280x1024, multisample 4xAA 8xAF, 2.5ghz, 7800GTX @488/1300
http://img387.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d3single26il.jpg (single core)
http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d326bi.jpg (dual core)

So you can see, the 81.82 drivers are indeed using the second core to speed things up...the ONLY thing changed bewteen the benches was the disabling of the second core. I also see lower load temps because only one core is producing heat....anywhere from a 5% to a 10% gain depending on resolution and AA/AF settings....there is going to be a LOT of testing from different sites soon.....

Also with multi-threaded drivers there is a quantifiable increase in overall smoothness....you can see the peak framerates are also higher. The second core IS being used in the game to speed up the video driver processing...that much is obvious. I imagine some games will show larger increase with them....in fact, I will have some Far Cry benches coming....

Damn Brent, you have a hard job, benching all that shit and keeping track of all of it, sucks. :p   :)

Good job testing those drivers. I did some testing with Doom 3 and an advanced Taskmanager and both cpu-graphs are at 100% when running a timedemo. BF2 is running very, very smooth indeed (16x12, 4x Transparency SSAA, high settings, high driver settings), but I don't see the 2nd core being used in this game.

I would also like to know if these fix the stuttering bug, even though I know they probably dont.

I get texture problems in Guild Wars with these. Went back to 78.03 and no more problems.

Funny thing is when I first start up and enter the game the textures are messed up. If I change the resolution in the game options it fixes the texture problem.

DAMN!!! That's all I can say! I normally don't try beta drivers that aren't available @ nVidia.com, but these ones are purrrfect! :p nVidia really did something with these drivers, my average FPS in UT2k4 went from ~25FPS to ~35FPS! :D And I have hyperthreading turned off (long story), so it's not the multithreading alone that is responsible for this insane speed increase. I believe nVidia must have tweaked the compiler alll the way to hell and back, 'cause as far as I can tell there's no IQ loss of any kind (at least in UT2k4). These drivers are smoooooth as butter! Go nVidia Go!

sweet news guys! now I just need an X2... and a 7800GT.... and an LCD. hmm, which first, lol

I didn't have texture issues with these, but my benchies went down, actually... bizarre. I think it's an SLi thing... possibly.. I did like, however, how they enable SLi without a reboot. That was nice.. but they seemed buggy to me... I had to install them twice because the first time around windows complained about missing dll's and such... not good... also when I was working in the advanced settings menus for the video props my machine would hang a little here and there.... sit on a screen after I hit "ok" for a LONG time... not a normal thing.. it's really snappy usually... went back to the 78.03s and all is good again... hmmmmmmm.... I am glad they have been good for so many, but they're not my magic bullet, for sure. ;)

Do these drivers help if you only have a single core cpu?
Hell yes!!! :D I just finished my 3 hour+ marathon of gaming goodness...and let me tell you these are the best drivers yet! Everything is so "smooth", I don't know how to describe it. You just have to try them out and see for yourself.

So anyway, I was loading up UT2k4, same as always, when I got me a Double Kill, then a Multi Kill, suddenly it went up to a Mega Kill - and in a row, Ultra Kill - Monster Kill - Ludicrous Kill - Holy Shit!!! And I was like HOLY SHIT INDEED man! I think the guy was repeating like at least 5 times Holy Shit!!! Ahahaha!!! 0wned! :p I never got that much in a game before! And all the following games were just pure bliss. Thanks nVidia, for making my day.

Wow. I cant wait for the officials on tuesday, I hope theres 64 bit. With these new drivers and a clean install bring on FEAR & Quake 4 hehe......... ;)

Yeah, I am hoping for 64bit drivers.

holy crap... I may have spoken too soon.. I think my AA was at 4x when I benched with these... no wonder they were slower. lol. I'll just wait for the officials on Tuesday...

So far after a little BF2 gaming it appears that my stutter is gone. Too early to tell since I haven't tried other DX games, but I'll post updates.

Somewhat slower for me in WoW but shimmering is completely gone. Average fps is down to the low 50s but it doesn't feel laggy. GTX @ 490/1330 - HQ, 16x12 4x/16x TRSS.

heh, well i got a nice 15-20fps increase over the 78.03's on my 7800gtx in bf2, however, it brought the shimmering back which the 78.03's had corrected for me. No worries, it's worth the bump in fps for me to deal with the shimmering.

These drivers have some serious problems with Fable on my system. The Heros Guild area always pretty much hard locks. That sucks....hard.
