After seeing alphacool and radiical cool came out with the acrylic ddc top. I really want one rather than using the current mod. Right now my mod is ugly with all the epoxy on top. Both of those top must be order overseas and the cost is crazy. So i was looking at the acrylic picture and it struck me, i can make one myself. So after a few weeks of struggle, Here it is. I am currently making a second one to fit 1/4npt and a lot smoother with future upgrade for small res on top of pump.

Let's stop the talking and start with the pictures. I just finished it and have not install onto the pump until i get time to drain the coolant out.

This is the test version with 1/8 Npt which is straight with a 3/8 barb, there is no restriction there.

Looks very nice. :D If you got a CNC mill handy you can probably make more than a few $$.

It's a beaut! How about making a replacement body for a D5?

/shoves others out of the way... :D

By looking at the D5 assembly, the only way to make it will have go with the polarflo replacement mount style. I do not have a D5 on hand for measurement and such, it will be difficult. /hint hint

hows the seal between the pump and the top leaks etc.?were can i buy one, radiical has them but thats in australia....i want it with 1/2 barbs....

I have not install on the pump yet. You can't buy one as this is my own DIY version. It is possible to get 1/2barbs X 1/4 NPT threads but 3/8 NPT will not fit.

Why would you WANT a d5 replacement top?

I think the whole thing is very inelegant looking, but it's a great pump. If anyone has any ideas on how to dress one up, I'd be up for it. Don't want to threadjack, though.

Again, ultragamma, unbelievable job on that top.

Looking Great! now you just need to get inside there with the 800/1200/1600 grit and flame polish. :p How about some polished stainless steel barbs or somthing? Oh yeah, and LED's of course.

Excellent job on the top.

You should just polish the bottom of the top, then, frost the rest of the block, and then add LED's. That would be sexy.

There's definately more than a few people who would like a DDC top like yours, you might be able to make a nice amount of $ from other people :)

Great top, maybe try to polish the inside by sanding it with 2000 grit, then using plastic scratch remover/polish to get it clear. It still looks great though, have you tried seeing how it looks with leds yet? :D

Unless you frost it, don't even bother placing LED's in there cause there is no point to it. It just causes things around the pump to brighten up.

Thanks everyone's props

like i said, this is only the trial version. i will remake another one with 1/4NPT with polish inside and with nylon barbs. I just found out nylon barb is UV reactive.

I also thinking making a d5 replacement for my friend. once i am done, i will post pics.

Once i make the functionable version, i might be able to make some for this forum members with just the cost and machine time.

it is not impossible to make the top w/ res, but for a block that size, material will be more expensive and the top fill cap will be some what different since i don't have the tools to do the screw-on top.

Sorry not meaning to thread jack but it looks like there is some interest in those tops. Just to let you know guys I have three of these tops on the way from overseas. So if anyone is interested PM me. Whenever they arrive I`m going to put them up for sale on forums. Here is a pic of it.
