Ok I have an ABIT Fatality SLI and an ASUS A8N-SLI

Both boot and work flawlessly except for one thing. Neither of these sumbitches will let me connect to the internet through the nvidia ethernet.

I installed the boards, then winblos XP pro sp2, then the drivers 6.66, and the latest bios for both, is there voodoo dance or some shit i'm supposed to do to get it to work properly?

Everything in xp is as it should be and concast says my modem and net access is working correctly they can ping me but I can't ping anything.

nothing wrong with my cables either as i'm swapping them from old box to new in order to get on here and ask for help.

Unplug the cable modem for a minute then plug it back in. I have to do this to use multiple PC's.

err.

Ok so I installed the ASUS board and the nf4 drivers, AND the Nvidia NAM software and I was able to connect to the internet. Do you have to install the NAM firewall and manager software? it didn't seem to work otherwise.

ABIT sucks, did the same thing with the abit board and got nowhere, also windows wouldn't shut down on it's own, and everytime i tried to remove, re-install the nforce driver pack the thing would freeze up.

I'll never buy another ABIT product as long as I breathe.

My abit an8sli board is fantastic. I have no problems with it. It was a bit quirky to get set up, but no more than some other boards I have had.

Have you tried the Abit usa forums?

happy to hear sombody got one that works,

I did try the abit forums but the more i read through all the issues there, and just the frustration I have had dealing with the ones I got i'm done with abit. 238.00 for a mobo that still doesn't function properly is just too much.

I may be expecting too much for a board to actually fully work with little or no tweaking out of the box, but hey I expect new products to actually work. Imagine if you bought a new car and then had to change the tires, the ignition, and the heads just so it would run...kinda the same thing here to me.

Now if I were to mess with it and it didn't work right then thats my bad....all I know is the ASUS fired off ran smooth and didn't F### with me from the word go :)

By the way plywood, are you using the nvidia ethernet on the board or a pci card?
If your using the onboard lan did you have problems getting it to connect?

I have no problems at all... I dont install the NVidia firewall software...

sounds like your ISP needs to run on a specific Mac Address of your network adapter. My old Cable ISP who shall remain namless, I had to regester my Mac address of my card with them, so I could only use it on one computer. This way they could "sell" their home networking BS. Perhaps thats the problem.

Heh, that sounds like RoadRunner to me, and that is straight up crap. I can't stand all these money mongering companies.

Back OT.
Yes I am using the nvidia nic.
I don't use the Nvidia firewall software either, too many horror stories about it.
