This looks like a really nice monitor --

Samsung 970P

I can't seem to find it anywhere in stock though. 6ms response is certainly an upgrade from my Dell 1905FP. Ugh. Too much ghosting in my opinion...

But the places that *list* it don't seem to have it in stock. Is it new? Plus it's kind of pricey... $625 for the 19"

Looks like the successor to their 193P+ panel. Brand new model, so it will be a while till it hits stores.

the stand looks very nice. I think Samsung finally got the message and improved the stand from the 193P series, which was a piece of crap. As an owner of the 193p+, I can say this with some objectivity.

It's not the same stand like the 173P's.

There is a review in hungarian (compared to Samsung 193P, FSC P19-2, DELL 1905FP v2, Viewsonic VX924): (maybe you find the pics helpfull)

Yea I know. I'm just wondering what he doesnt like about the 173P/193P stand. Thanks for that link though, I was looking for more pics.

there's nothing wrong with the 193p stand in terms of stability and portability. In fact, it excels in that department. The only gripe, and it is a big one, is that it cannot be raised high. After a few hours of viewing, your neck and back are going to kill you. I had to buy an extra ergotron stand to make it even eye level. But with the new bulky stand, it kind of ruins the whole portable benefit. It's bad for LAN games because unless you have a bunch of phone books lying around, your neck is going to hurt a lot. And when you starting padding it with phone books it totally destroys the aesthetics. Dell is it right with the 2405 stand: stable, height adjustable, can be raised high, portable. The telescoping stand is the best thing since slice bread in my opinion.

Yeah, it's expensive too. I would consider it for $500, but for $600+, I'll look at something else. I like the 6ms time the most because I'm getting sick of the ghosting on my 1905FP / 20ms response.

ugh! I just saw the ViewSonic VX924 -- that thing looks great!

lol i paid that for my 2405.

I'd love to pay ~$600 for a 2405, but that's not a deal that can be had every day. In fact, it probably can only be had about once per year. I missed that boat, sadly :(

How did you get that deal from Dell or Ebay? I have never seen it that low.

ViewSonic VX924 they are great you can get them for under $400.00.

so I got the samsung 193p+ a few weeks ago from compusa (because of the rebates) and brought it home to find 1 stuck green pixel near the center of my screen. I called samsung about a week later after the purchase because I knew they had the 0 bright pixel policy. They said they would ship me a new one to the local UPS store free of charge and I would have to send the other back. About three days after I called, samsung returned a phone call to my house telling me that they no longer have any 193p+ in stock and have no estimated time of arrival. They also told me that they couldn't find any comparable models. I followed by telling them about their 970p 19" monitor and I would gladly take that instead. I just got a call today with them telling me that they would replace my current monitor with the 970p

I hope the monitor is just as good as the 193p+
