In practice, how much vibration have people noticed from the MCP-655 / D5 pump?

In other words, for the sake of an example, say you put it on it's side (so not on the little metal stand) on a table with it running...would you really notice the vibrations noise wise?...any movement?...

I think I have an interesting idea for my pump placement, and I'm just trying to figure out how well I'm going to be able to secure it where it will lay... ;)

Why would you have the pump resting on its side? What's your proposed layout?

I've been running a D5 and D4 side-by-side in my loop for about a month now, and can say with confidence that the D5 has fixed all of the vibrational and whining problems that plauged the D4. As for directly resting on it's side, I wouldn't recommend it. Why not use some foam or something to isolate it anyway?

argh...I said "for the sake of example"!...hehe...didn't mean I was going to do that, just that I am trying to get a a good feeling for how much the thing vibrates.

And yes, in practice, I would wedge some foam in there.

I'll write more later...sigh, I really wish I had a digital camera...

(P.S., there's no "orientation" that the pump must be in to work best, is there?...I'm sure it would work in any orientation, but I wonder just how much different orientations would change its effectiveness.)
