Ok I just built a new system with the abit fatality system board. I did a fresh install on a mirror array without any problems. I pluged in two usb hard drives and my mouse and keyboard and the thing started turning off all my usb devices. It just keept flashing on and off no matter what I did. I made sure I had SP2 installed on a windows xp system and verified that the usb drivers where correct. I ended up having to install a third party usb controler in order to use my mouse and keyboard.

What I am looking for from all you guys and gals is if you have experenced this problem (so I can send the info to abit as they have no idea whats going on) and to find out if anyone figured out how to fix it.

My system is 100% stable runing folding and world of warcraft at the same time (thanks Kyle for the great review of the X2 CPU ;)) no other problems other then the guru not retaining its settings when I reboot hehe.

thanks for the help.

Dunno man wish i had an answer, My USB is working fine on this same mobo. but my Lan is doing the same thing, keeps flashing "network cable is unplugged" when it isn't

wondering if I have to RMA this sucker

I've come to the conclusion the "fat wanker" board as another member of the forum referred to it as is a fitting name.

Not only is the ethernet connector AFU out of the box, but after trying to use a nic card in both PCI slots they only work for a few mins then stop like the cable was cut, no activity at all.

Also the "really cool" guru bullshit panel stopped showing any data whatsoever like the LCD burned out.

The audio max riser card does work well though with the latest AC97 driver, and i haven't had any issues with the SLI at all.

talk about pissed off...first boot on this board was great everything worked but within 8 hours up time now it's only good for singleplayer games.

Wish i coulda got a referance board like the guys here at [H] get instead of the one i got which is going back...just don't know which board to get to replace it

I have the AN8sli, same board as yours but without the "fatality" branding. Board is running perfectly, but it does take a minute to tweak it correctly. I find this is usual with any enthusiast board.

The usb and nic problems may be bios related, have you updated to the 17 bios? Also, I hear it is best not to turn on usb keyboard and mouse emulation in the bios, but not too sure about it, again I have had no problems.

After updating bios, unplug or turn off power supply, remove the battery and short the clear cmos jumper on the mobo. Now wait about fifteen minutes to make sure there is no juice remaining in the capacitors. Hit the power button a couple times too. Return everything to normal and all should be well.

Hope this helps...

that's the only thing I have not done yet to correct the Lan/pci problems with this board. I have been reluctant to mess with flashing the bios just cause, but I've got nothing to lose at this point.

Will do as you suggested and hope it fixes these issues, I registered on the ABIT forums 4 days ago and still don't have access to post questions for help ...really makes me not want to RMA anything for fear of being pissed off for several weeks

Just make sure you set everything to stock when you flash, no overclocking or stuff like that. Since I don't have a floppy I use the Flashmenu program in windows and have done several flashes without issue. Don't try it while overclocking, I wiped out a mobo once when I forgot to set things to default in the bios...

I appreciate the pointers plywood :)

flashing the bios did nothing for fixing the LAN or PCI1 I can't even run a NIC card on this pile of shiat. the PCI slot only works for a minute then does nothing.

Just for shits and giggles I'm going to RMA this POS back to chinatown and maybe in a few weeks (if not months) i'll actually get a part that works as they "advertise"

as for being pissed off at myself for buying the board in the first place, realising I never should have strayed from ASUS.

Everything else I got to build my system works great, now i just need a good board to put it all on.

Man, sorry to hear that LeadSlinger. Funny, I have had no problems with my board. Well I hope you get it all taken care of in the end.
