I just got some problem with planning a watercooling setup for my LianLi PC60 (first revision without top-fan).

I want to put a Single- or Dual radiator in it, an Aquacomputer Aquastream-Pump and an Aquatube reservoir in it!

Now i dont know where to put those equipment. i dont want to cut the whole case. I also want to keep the hdd-cage where it is! Got one 5 1/4" DVD Drive and two 3.5" HDDS ... so the 3 x 3.5" cage is empty and three 5 1/4" bays are clear!! ...

Any opinions?

There is only one way you are going to fit a dual 120mm radiator in there, and that is to cut up the top of the case. You could externally mount the radiator if you want. Mounting the radiator in the top of the case will take up the first two 5.25" bays. You could mount the aquastream in the two 3.5" bays I believe (I am sure TN or R1ckguy will be along here to correct me on the AC stuff).

The tricky part would be getting the Aquastream pump in there. I know you can mount the pump (and the aquabay?) in a special double 5.25" mounting device, however that would take up your remaining two 5.25" bays.

and thats not the case i want ... :eek:

Will a radiator in the Top really block the first two drivebays? Aren't there any slim-line radiators and fans i could use?dunno where to put the pump then .. dont want to bput it on the bottom .. that looks so ugly :D

nope, even a BIP and 25mm fans will encroach upon the second drive bay. You could look at getting the DDC since it is a smaller pump than the Aquastream with similar characteristics.

just did some calculation and measuring ...

> 155 mm i got between drive and top ...

30 mm for BlackIce II Pro Radiator
25 mm for Papst Fans
72 mm for pump ...

>28 mm left for angeled 10/8 plugs on pump !!! is that enought?

can i mount the pump @ side? it's just 52 width !! ... :confused: :rolleyes:

I have the PC7 (same dimensions but the floppy drive is smaller to make room for 120mm fan). Anywho, I put a 2x120mm rad on top (with the fans and shroud, it uses both drive bays almost fully). And I put my pump in the floppy drive bay.

n64man, thats the case i wanna get with a similar setup with dual 120s.. do you mind posting some pics for me?

Why not put the radiator on top of the case? An Aquastream isn't that big and will fit under the video card or in that general area. The Aquabay will hold the Aquatube reservoir in front and the Aquastream pump mounts to the back. They will take up 2 5.25's too. You could also look into dropping the Aquatube in favor of a plugon filltank that attaches directly to the intake of the pump - the AquaInlet (which comes in clear and blue aluminum).

I'm planning on getting a LLPC7 Plus for my small bore loop, but I'll be using a heatercore in the bottom in place of the 3.5" HDD rack. The pump will most likely be a Laing DDC with an attached filltank, connected to an Alphacool GPX and a Cape X2 Pro CPU block.

I just want to leave the case as clean as i can on the outside ...

it's just the problem: there is not really much space for all the things! Harddrives should stay in the hdd-rack on the bottom because they need cooling (just had once drives which died while heating up!!). And it got no other method to keep 2 drives active cooled ...

NO .. no external mouting of radiator .. that looks ugly or DOESNT MATCH THE LiLi-STYLE !!! :p

You will have to make some compensations to use that case, plain and simple. I have that exact case and all the components you are considering using. I understand about the clean lines of LiLi's and love them too, and I don't think you'll have to sacrifice aesthetics. In placing items around in the case for fun after reading your post how about this:
1. Split the radiators. You have room to mount an Evo 120 up top and still have room for your optical drives. IMO the AC grilles actually enhance the look of the silver LianLi.
2. Use an Aquabay below the opticals as it takes care of the rez and the pump mount all in one shot.
3. Lose the drive cage as it limits your options and looks fugly anyway. You can mount an Evo 160 in front mounted directly to the case and 2x 80mm fans moved to the outside,,, they will fit fine behind the front panel and no modification is necessary.
4. This leaves the drives.....get a set of the LianLi auxillary drive brackets. You still have room to mount them to the bottom of the floppy cage and in front of the 160. Optionally, you can mount the drives vertically on one of these brackets and set them on edge in front of the 160 or hang them from the bottom of the floppy cage. You could even add 2 more fans to it in push-pull to get more air over the drives.
All this and you've made one case cut for the 120.........

What about doing it like the pics I posted. Granted you have to be a bit comfortable working with tools... but c'mon, you can't argue that doesnt look C L E A N ;)

@n64 ...
what pump do u use? which reservoir u have?

@toon
mountng the radiator in the top is no problem sinc ei like the AC grills ... so a dual or single radiator in the top will be sure possible ...
but i still dont know where to put the aquastrem pump .. maybe it cant be mountet horizontal that the top outlet goes to the side? then there will be no problems with space between top and optical drive!

i just got another crazy idea ...

- removing front hdd-bay and put PSU there ..
- top: dual 120 radiator and Aquatube
- pump in 5 1/4" drives under aquatube ...

good idea?? ... or am i really crazy? :D

PSU Idea is crazy

I have the DDC-12V pump, in the floppy bay. If your getting a PC-60, I think a D5 will fit in there. The DDC-12V is awsome IMO, it makes the system about 3* hotter than the D5, but I think it's worth it especialy since my floppy bay is smaller. No res, no reason... see the fillport at the top? That's all you need

top nurse, i was thinkin about using that evo thing from ac, but what radiators is it compatible with. i would think only ac rads. would it work with a bix2 or thermochill he120.2, i guess what im asking is would those radiators be fat enough to fill up the gap from the evo riser things.

DDC pumps have been used with these too, resulting in an even cleaner/less bulky setup. You aren't locked into using the Aquastream/Eheim pump even though thats what the Aquabay was designed for.

i want to use the aquastream because of future upgrades to the aquacomputer controlpanel ...
and i dont like that aquabay .. :p

You're quite capable of placing your own obstacles in this build. Lots of good ideas have been presented by people here. Good luck with your build....ideals are hard to come by.

The Aquabay pic shown on the Sharka site didn't have the white plastic metal covers removed and it definitely looks fugly. I asked Wes to change it, but they still have it up there (out of sight out of mind). If you want to see what the Aquabay and Aquatube really look like then peruse the Feeding Frenzy thread.

Not that crazy, i've contemplated moving my PSU to the front and it has been done before...

@nurse ..
i know how the bay looks but im not interested in it ... :D

@pepper
maybe i should mount the HDD drives below the radiator then? ... so they get active cooled ..

That seems like a good idea if you have the skills to make it happen. :D

If you want to aquacomputer parts... then you could always look into getting 2 x Evo 160 rads (dual 80mm) to fit onto the intake and exhaust fans.

No modding involved, simple bolt onto the existing fans..

with the hdds, juts mod the cage and move the hdds forwards a bit.

Not sure if that is the best method, but it's an option for you to think about.

The aquastream pump can be housed in 2 x 5 1/4" bays using an aquabay... if you don't like the look of the bay, you don't need to use the face plate... you can take it off and use hid it behind your blanking plates. The aquatube however, would be best placed in the aquabay! since it requires no modding, but other than that, you could always mod it top the top of your case or in the 3 x 3 1/2" bays you have free.
