I put this rig together and booted it up. Got in the bios and set boot priority. Then it will not boot. I have put 1 stick in dimm 2 no luck. I threw in a winnie to make sure it wasnt in need of a bios flash also. I get 3 leds, and alternating beeps. beep...beeep...beeep

Any help would be great, thanks.

not sure what exactly is the problem, but for a lot of answers and very specific help check out dfi-street.com

Don't go to DFI-Street.com, they will tell you that the problem is your PSU, which it's not.

I think three LEDs is a memory problem. Make sure you tried both sticks in slot 2 by themselves to make sure one isn't dead.

Next, try clearing the CMOS.

Next, make sure the 4V VDIMM jumper isn't in the 4V position.

Next, disconnect everything that isn't required for the PC to POST. This includes: HDDs, optical drives, fans, USB devices, sound cards, modems, and one of the two sticks of memory.

Also, make sure all four power connectors are connected to the board.

Ok it works now in dimm2 but not in 2 and 4?
I cant even get windoes on there b/c bsod's

jusa get the ASUS and save yourself the headaches. Thats coming from someone that with the sli-dr board took 3 different AMD chips in excess of 3ghz, 2 in excess of 3.2ghz with the DFI. The dfi is absolute hell when you dick around with the memory configuration. For example, pop out a memory dimm and put it back in the same slot. The computer wont post again until you boot up in single channel with ONE stick in bank 3, let it load into windows, then do a SOFT power off, re insert the other stick, and then youre back in business.

And yes thats actually what tech support said. Every fucking time I so much as TOUCH my memory I have to go through that process.

Asus = FTW stability, and a good bit of speed. I'm loving mine.

The mushkin redline is giving me bsod's. I threw in some Geil 2x256mb pc4000 and no more bsod BUT I ran 3dmark05 and it crashed near the end. Obviously there is some instability there WTF??

I have had 3 of 4 redline sticks I own die with the dfi.

Hmm wonder why someone wuld sell me incompatible parts?
Ill kick up the vdimm on the geil and see if it passes.

I have seem people that use the mushkin on the dfi
but it was pc3500

my ultra x connect undervolts like a pig--

also consider flashing the bios to 618 or higers--

DFI street is usually wrong about PSU's --but any x connect is suspect in my book.

also double check all connections--there may be one that ain't fully connected.

Well I put my old set-up back together and it would not even boot with the redline. So it is just bad ram I guess.

Make sure you flash the BIOS. My SLI-DR wouldn't POST with any RAM in slot 3 or 4 until I flashed, now it works flawlessly.

Well I put my old rig together and it was infact the memory. It wouldnt boot in that rig either.

Not entirely true. U should read the stickies there and then search - not post the first U do. Also that PSU should be ok if its 24-pin.

However the advice is sound. Alwasy qualify your sticks 1 & 1 if U have 3 LEDs.

it don't matter if the psu is a 20 or 24 i've seen a bunch of them running with i mix of 20 pin and or 24 pin adaptors .

my TD ultra x connect only makes 11.63v on the 12v rail --most nf4mb's need closer to 20a and close to 12v as possible .

my pld 480antec makes a little over 20amps and runs a solid 11.99v under load so even with 20pins hasen't even hiccuped overclocked and sli--

if you continue to have problems watch the msfets temps--if they seem abnormally hot--you may have got one of that batch of bad mb's .

beware of DFI street they can't find their own ass

If you aren't gonna do extreme overclock, then put that DFI away, I had an Ultra-D, every single time the mobo wasn´t powered (power cord pulled out) my BIOS just got messed up without notice that so many applications and games were crashing, until some day it burnt out one of my 512MB ocz gold gx out!!! :(

Go for an ASUS or Gigabyte if you want stability and less headaches

;)
