Any Samsung 26" LCD HDTV users?

I have the very same tv, but the 23" version. Make sure you buy the hi-def component wires for the xbox when you get the tv, it's only like 20 bucks and it makes a significant difference in quality. The basic xbox AV inputs won't cut it at all. I have my DVD hooked up to the TV via HDMI and the quality is magnificent, it's a very good tv, but for gaming I can't stress how important it is to chuck the standard AV cable and you buy the hi-def component cables for the xbox.

Thanks for the tips. I don't know much about HDTVs, do you need special cables for HDMI for you DVD player too?

Have you hooked up a PC to your Samsung 23"? If so what does it look like?

Thanks again.

Well, the DVD player I bought came with the HDMI cable, here's a link to it. DVD player

You could also buy HDMI cables from stores like Best Buy, Circuit City etc and I do know that some cable providers give them when they install their HD tuner/cable box if you specifically ask for it, otherwise they will use component cables. I only use HDMI for my DVD player though, and in 720p and 1080i hi-def mode, the visuals are amazing.

I hooked up my pc to the tv just for light browsing to see what it would look like, like checking e-mails and stuff, and it was fine. I didn't use it for gaming or anything intensive, so I can't comment on that.

I can take some pics for you of the tv in action later on in the day if you like.

I have an older DVD player so I know it doesn't have the new HDMI connection. I don't have cable/sat tv, just plain broadcast stuff because I mainly rent DVDs or play my xbox. I would love to see photos of your Samsung!

I guess my only question for you is if you have any regrets/criticism on your Samsung? I looked at the 23" & 26" models. Both looked good but I want a little more display for DVDs. I image the 23" would look better because both 23" & 26" have the same resoultion.

Thanks again.

Hey man, what's up. In my personal opinion, if you primarily want to use the TV for DVD's, then you need to upgrade and get a suitable DVD player that is up to par. What's the point of spending over $1200 on the tv, if you aren't going to use it to it's fullest capabilities? The tv fully supports 720p and 1080i hi-def and HDMI, and via HDMI, the quality is superb. I'm sure the quality would look just fine with your old DVD player, but then why buy the samsung in the first place if you won't capitalize on the strongpoints of the tv? Any old tv would be fine.

As far as cable goes, my cable service Time Warner provided me with the cablebox/HD tuner. That comes automatically if you have Digital cable. There are a few hi-def channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, HBO, Cinemax and ESPN. I mostly watch HBO and ESPN. I have no complaints there. The standard channels look very good too, but don't expect hi-def quality. I honestly don't watch much TV, save for HBO, ESPN and the occasional Comedy Central.

My criticisms? None. This has been a fantastic tv, for the price. I put it in my gaming room and my friend liked the tv so much that he bought 2 of them and put them in his office (he's owns a gym)

Now on to the pics, my camera battery died on me, so I could not take more pics of movies playing on the DVD player. I took some pics of the demo of Far Cry Insticts and Burnout Revenge. Was taking pics of the hulk dvd, then battery died on me.

This first pic was just a print screen of the background of my pc hooked up to the tv when I got it.

The next are from far cry and Burnout and the hulk dvd.

Feel free to ask any other questions if you have any.

Just wanted to add that the quality is crippled by my camera. Pics don't do this badboy justice.

WOW!

As I wipe the drool of my chin, that display looks hot! I'm surprise how great it looks hooked up to a PC. Yeah, I'll have to upgrade my DVD player too then.

Thanks for taking the time and effort for posting the photos and explaining your experiences. You sold me on the display, I just wish I didn't have to wait right now (job issues).

Thanks again.

TBONEU - anytime man, no problem.

DocWonder - No ghosting or blurring of any kind, but again i've only played console games with it. This is the xbox version of Far Cry, not the PC version and it's been smooth as silk. All the xbox games have been smooth, no issues at all. I'm playing Soul Caliber 2 and Freedom Fighters again only because they support 720p hi-def.

2 pics I didn't post earlier.
