well im new to the intel scene and i wanted to make a computer for my younger sister. I have my old 9800pro that i was unable to sell so i'm probably just gonna give it to her. :)

so i'm completely confused about all this intel stuff. so i'm just gonna be straightfoward. :p
What's the best motherboard out there that is NOT PCI-e. Doesn't matter what socket type i guess.

I pretty much need a cpu/mobo combo that doesnt go over $350.

Thanks in advance guys

Well "best" is subjective; best over-clocking, best stability, best reliability, best longevity.

To keep the price at its lowest (and heat generation), you should probably be thinking about AMD A64, 939 socket.

With regards to the question you posed on the Intel front (skt. 478), many rave about the
ASUS P4P800SE and the Abit IC-7G.

If she will be doing a lot of multi-tasking, the P4 3.0E is a good all around processor with an eye toward longevity. If you want to keep the budget down, look at the 2.4GHz Cel. D 320.

Any processor you obtain should be paired with 1GB of memory with current prices.

Good luck and also examine the AMD offerings.

would there be any point in getting a socket lga775 if im going to stay with the agp card??? the prices are pretty much the same....
