Xbox360 Giveaway

I wonder if there is an easy way to figure out the entry paterns on any given day. For instance, would a Sunday at 3am have better odds than a Saturday at 3am or perhaps its Tuesday at 2:30AM with the best odds. If there was a way to record the last weeks worth of drawing into a spreadsheet and analyze the statistical slow times for day of week and hour, then it might be fairly simple to put 30 or so entries into a drawing and come out with very good odds.

im going back to school soon, time to find out where to eat and make sure they carry mountain dew.

I've been looking at the next 72hrs worth of available entry slots, and there seems to be some interesting things there. Like most hours slots for the next days entries have 25~100 entries, except for 2 specific time slots that have like 2000 entries almost. What I find interesting is since this promotion just started yesterday, and since people seem to be more focussed on playing the entry during the same day period, how would one account for the random 2000 entry game. Obviously it wouldn't be useful for multiple people who are looking that far ahead for good odds to play that particular time slot after its odds become significantly worse than the surrounding timeslots. The one I'm talking about is right in the middle of primetime evening, so its not like its less likely to get entries from people who goto work/school. But somehow there are 2000 entries on this particular slot. My thought is this could only be entries from one or two people. Its so far out and surrounded by so many opportunities for infinately better odds, that anyone who is over 13 is going to recognize that its a waste of a play to put their entry in that timeslot. On the other hand, paying legitimately for 2000 entries isn't cost effective for an xbox and game valued at most $460 (assuming its not the cheaper xbox360). So I wonder if someone has come upon a listing of codes, or figured out how the codes were generated from Pepsi, or somehow managed about 2000 entries. Just some things I noticed while I was browsing the odds section. The anomaly of 2000 entries in a drawing that is 24 hours or more out while there are numerous drawing all around it with substantially better odds just seems suspicious to me is all.

when did this start??

You would have to go to a high volume store

a 7 eleven near the shopping/business district is always full of people
they always have bawls

but the 7 eleven near me (residential) took longer to get bawls in stock

Wow... Just wow.... All I ever drink is pepsi

For those of you who haven't heard, pepsi is doing a Xbox Giveaway. They give away one xbox360 every ten minutes for 9 weeks. You also get a free game. I know I didn't hear about this until a few days ago. Right now the drawings seem to have about 400-500 codes entered by the time they draw, I expect the longer the contest goes the more codes there will be in each drawing.

So if you happen to drink pepsi products, go get a couple of the ones with the codes and enter into the early ones. A one in 500 chance to win an Xbox360 seems pretty good to me. Better chances than winning the lottery by far.

Also, they are guaranteed to get the Xbox360 to you BEFORE it is commercially released. So you can be playing your Xbox360 before anyone else, a nice bonus.

I just thought I would let the rest of the people on the [H]ard|Forums know in case you haven't already heard.

I think that you should get a few maybe just to get a chance of winning.....but is a 50 in 500 chance really worth the extra money over a 5 in 500 chance?

well, it really depends, if you can get as many 'free' chances as you want, then you should do that -of course- however, if the Present Value of winning the item with odds 50 in 500 is greater than the price you pay for that option, then it makes sense to purchase that option.

Sorry dudes I guess they caught on because you cant pass on codes anymore. Alot of people won by just passing emails back to themselfs which I was planning on doing all day today. Some dude on TXB won two. :(

yeah i saw that one the winners board... salem, N.H. I suppose if you werked at a gas station you would have acess to all the dew you wanted and if a couple dozon or three disappeared?!?!? hmm... too bad I quit that job 'cause it sux

Got a working one.

zero002021 and AlexJKim email sent. Please send one back to me at liquidxtream AT gamil.com and send to the rest that ask.

I thought I did. Sorry just sent you another please send back.

Bump, because I'm sure this thread is going to get more interesting. Hopefully we can have ourselves a few winners on the [H]!

I found myself in a pretty good situation. Not only are bottles showing up more often where I live, but where I work is a pretty decent sized campus with lots of vending machines. I think I am going to participate in a little "dumpster diving" and get me some free codes. :D

More like... Is a 50 in 1,000,000 chance worth the extra $50 for a 1 in 1,000,000 chance? nope.

You can also get a free code if you have yahoo messenger, you click on a link somewhere on that page (forgot where) and you will get an IM from pepsi with a free code in it.

This is bullshit, I searched the entire rules page and there was no mention of getting IM'd codes

Not sure if he used the same account, but if he did then from what I read in the Official Rules he would only win one.

Limit one (1) Xbox 360 prize per person and/or Account and/or household.

for those that are interested, supposedly you can use this website to get a free code.

link

they say you can just enter in bogus info in the "your name" and "your email address" and then put your email addy in the "friends" section.

Warning: Obviously this will likely sign you up for lots of email spam, so use a junk account you don't care about.

Only 1 code per email addy, but if you have a bunch of junk emails, you can accumulate codes to get their promo stuff for "free" (have to pay shipping and handling)

Spamgourmet.com

unlimited throwaway email addresses that forward a user defined number of messages to your primary email

Just entered a code from a cap... They have the 20oz bottles with them here at work. I don't think I won, lol.. But anyways, how do they determine the number for who wins? Do they draw a "random" code and see if anyone has it in that entry time span.. or do they just keep pulling those codes until they have one that matches someones they entered in that 10min time span. Because someone has to win..

well, as far as alphanumeric permutations go, these are 10 digit codes you enter.. do there is up to 6.07E+13 possiblities. Thats 60,700,000,000,000 different codes.. Well, I don't think they use the number 0 or the letter "0", so it would be a little bit less. (but remember, only some are vaid.. I tried to make up my own random code, lol.--didn't work)

^--if someone could find the code "pattern" or "key", we could hax0r this wide open and win Xbox 360's every time LOL. You guys know.. like the evil warez CD key generators.

i tried the forwarding and it has said " Sorry, no more codes can be forwarded" so so much for my 50 other points lol

I got one code so far and it's not from any bottles of Pepsi, Sierra Mist or Mountain Dew. I still can't find any of the bottles for the promo. Damn crappy distribution. :(

For what people are bidding on some of those codes it would be nearly as cheap to actually buy the mountain dew.

only bad thing about buying them, if somehow they found that you bought them, they would all be void. which means you just wasted your money.

I don't see a problem in buying them unless those caps or codes were obtained illegally somehow.

Maybe it's better to buy those than actually getting the bottles of the product. If you end up drinking a hundred bottles just to get 100 codes, you'll end up either fat (or fatter than you are now) or dead. :D

Spamgourmet is great, I use it ALL the time. I never get spam now. Seriously... none.
And if I do get any, I know EXACTLY who sold my address, and then the address expires and the problem takes care of itself.

I can't believe a co-worker won an Xbox 360 this morning, and he only used 3 codes!

anyone else know someone who won?

and where the heck do you get these promotional bottles? I've had my eyes open for the last week and haven't seen a single one.

From what I've noticed, the bottles seem to be hit or miss. Most gas stations and small markets will probably have them because they tend to replenish their supply more often than larger chains.

heh, lucky for me I'm at college so the dining halls go through tons of soda, especially the mountain dews and the pepsi's now (gee I wonder why, hehe). I plan on entering in my 15 or so codes tomorrow morning, early in the morning between 5-7am, that seems to be the best time to enter codes from what I have seen. My roommate will also enter in his 20 or so codes at that time. Should give us a 1 in 10 chance of winning, which is good enough for me.

Only problem is you can enter in those periods whenevr you feel like. yes they look like the best but a smart person would just eneter the codes and sleep. It doesn't seem worth the time to play since the odds are not that great. They are starting to get in the 500 to 600 neighborhood. You would have to get very lucky. Oh well, good luck all!

For anyone who is curious as to what exactly you win, here it is, directly from the Official Rules.
