Wondering if anyone knows of a tutorial for people using bondo for the first time? I'm fairly new to case modding but after watching some of the Bigg Dawgs (Crimson Skies, Mashie, Top Nurse Etc..) out there do it the right way I'd like to move my skills to the next level. I've never used bondo before but thanks to my wife I have access to a shop and some power tools. I have searched the forums but other than a few isolated tips I wasn't able to find a tutorial or guide to get me started nor was there any info I could find on the bondo product site. Thanks in advance if you have any info to share! Derf

I'd explain it but I'm relly tired right now so here's a tip: dont get cheap bondo. It sucks to sand.

search the automotive repair sites - plenty of skilled advice about bondo there.

Or just go to the source - http://www.bondo-online.com/Default.asp

Couple of key points -

surface prep - have to make sure the surface is clean and slightly rough so bondo will stick. If it is a very thick application, you'd be better off to have a mechnical attachment like having a screw or bolt protruding through the surface and into the body of the bondo.

mixture - the amount of catalyst you add directly affects how fast your bondo sets up, or if it even sets up at all. The important part is having it take long enough that you can do your rough shaping before it becomes hard.

have everything ready, doublecheck, before putting catalyst to the base material.

Better to mix too little, than too much. It sticks to itself, little trouble in adding more to build up a surface.

Get a proper grating tool and some very rough sandpaper to do your initial shaping.

Be prepared for a huge mess, wet, gooey and dry.
