After a long time, the internal will become dirty. How to go about cleaning it? And in the future, how to keep it clean?

Out of sight out of mind.

It's got a lot more flow capacity than your tubing, so it can go ahead and get 50% clogged and not affect your flow rate. Whatever you use to keep the rest of your loop from turning into a biology lab will work on it.

White vinger mixed with distilled water works real well getting the crap out of your system. Remember to drain and flush with plenty of clean distilled water as white vinger is acidic.............. . Then refill with your normal mixture................. ;)

Do i just run the mixture in or do i soak the mixture inside for awhile?

You can use the same stuff they use for automobile radiators or a CLR (clacium, Lime, Rust) remover.

I thought that was hydrochloric acid! This may sound really lame but when I did Distilled water and zerex....i got bio buildup..when I did distilled water and water wetter...it corroded my resevoir..when I use Koolance coolant..I have no problems 12 months at a time. Do what you go to do to get it clean...then go with a pre mix and save urself a few headaches!

What ratio did you use zerex to distilled, and how much bio buildup did you have??

I ask because I'm using 10% Zerex to 90% H20, with some highlighter fluid. It's definitely time to change the water out, but I wanna hold off a while longer until I upgrade my rig.

I used like 95/5 and some UV dye from frozencpu. It lasted like 6 months before I could tell that it needed changing. The tubes had this really ugly film buildup that was all slimey.

Anyone try water/methonal? I'm thinking of trying an 80/20 mix. I want something very low maintainance and I figure the methonal will lower the water tension as a side benefit.
As for tubing, most vinyl tubing (poly vinyl is an exception) is semi-permiable to water so the buildup a lot of you are getting is probably being filtered from the water. I'm going to try using black rubber heating tube, like you'd find in a car or washing machine.

So like someone else said I have a Koolance that I did their mixture and have never thought to clean it out. How do I know if I need it. I don't have anything grimey on my tubes or in my res... all looks the same as the day I filled it more than 2 years ago!

I mixup Simple Green and distilled water in a bucket, submerge the pump and let it go for awhile.

I've got about 3 years (not recommended by manufacturer) on my system with the koolance additive and no nasty growth.

5-7% rubbing alc. will solve bio growth problems or if you have mineral build up a auto rad flush works great, but for the time and effort it is worth just removing and take everything apart and clean it. I would suggest not using water at all. 3M make the most awesome product called "Flourinert"

WOW long link LOL.
"Florinert" or "Novec Engineering Fluids" may not be easy to find under thoughs names but are easily to find at your local welding supply store under the guise of a inert cooling liquid used for electic welding. I have seen it for $12 CAD per gallon.( good to -40C/F ). You can pour this stuff over your comp while its running and nothing, and best of all it is a none serviceable.(never having to clean or replace). It doesnt oxidize the copper to that grundgy brown that also affects the cooling. I think you can even drink it without harmfull affects.

Anyone actually tried using those car coolant n dump it in? I wonder if those works better.

How do u actually load water into the circuit @ the start? Load them thru the Reservoir? If yes, how do u actually know the percentage of distilled water n coolant?

I sort of need some pointer to load the water into my new setup.
Which is

Swiftech Storm
GFX - still not yet decided.
Silverprop SS4 Heatercore
Aquatube - mod 1/2"

What I plan on doing when I start to install my WC parts is to put everything into my rig and hook up the pump to an external power supply (not the comp. psu). Fill the res with coolant via a fill port and then run a leak test for a day or two.

As for the ratio of water:collant, mix it in a jug or bucket or anything you can find that will hold a decent amount of liquid or you can try and guesstimate the ratio while pouring the two liquids into your res.

How do u hook up the fill port? If i were to hook it up a Aquatube, how can i take it out later?

Any pump u guys recommend? Eheim 1048, 1250, DD5 or swiftech 655?

In the case of the Aquatube all you do is take the screws off the plexi and fill the res (that's what I've heard).

I've got the MCP650 but some have said it's loud. I think it's subjective tho.

"Any pump u guys recommend? Eheim 1048, 1250, DD5 or swiftech 655?"

I'd go with the D5 now that I've tried one, they are alot quieter that the older versions of the Laing pump (D4, Swiftech 650, Danger Den D4 and PolarFlo D4) I've got all 3 versions and the D% is one of the best so far.

My choice was actually D5 or 655 as both of them r of the same right? Both i was thinking of Eheim 1048 n 1250, last time a lot using them but since DC pump came out nobody cares abt Eheim :p
