I have heard it all! I bought this chip thinking it was simply a manchester with a low multiplier but the OC results around the web have beed schizophrenic at best. Some seem to top out at 2400 and some have gone at high at 2700 on air. Is there any defacto word on the OC capability of this chip? I will have a DFI SLI DR as a board and some OCZ 3200 Plat Rev2 as ram. Any idea what speeds I can expect...I should be OK with 1.45v right.

Thanks,
M

you just made me very happy. i hope mine goes as far as his did, i ordered it pretty much as soon as newegg had it :p

You should realize that most of them are on phase change or at least have removed the IHS to get those overclocks. Some are also using some pretty high voltage IMO for a 90nm X2. I wouldn't use more then 1.55V myself but thats just me.

That is serously amazing. I am REALLY hoping that mine will do 2.6 on water with tight timings. I will keep you all posted! I should have all my parts by wed...and I need a day to build out my server so thurs or friday will be x2 build day for me.

My X2 3800 is on order. The results in the above link are very promising.

Now I just have to find an A64 waterblock to get my water system upgraded.

X2 3800+ arrived this morning with the following stepping:

ADA3800DAA5BV
CDBHE 0527UPBW

Originally I was going to convert to phase change on this build but I have lost contact with the forum member that was going to build and sell the custom phase change system to me. I have a waterblock on order and I test this chip as soon as it comes in.

2.45ghz 1.5v air cooled cnps7000b-cu. i am convinced that my motherboard is holding me back, im considering getting the LP NF3 board.

that would also account for the low overclock on the winchester

edit: my buddy is bringing over his a8n SLI premium and GTX tonight for me to test this with!! :D

2.5 at 1.36 watercooled. did not have enough time to push it higher yet.

Those oc's are pretty nice. Almost makes me wish I would've waited 2 1/2 mo. and got a x2 3800 instead of 2 3000+'s. But then again, if I waited I probably would've blown the money on stupid shit I actually need, instead of the cool toys I really want :D

Hehe....I am in the middle of finishing up my MCE2005 box with 1.13TB of storage so I have not fired up the X2 3800 yet. Tonight, I will finish the buildout of the gaming box and post some preliminary results.
