Kinda warm I guess since no MIR, but Best Buy has a Maxtor 100GB SATA (model L01M100) for $59.99 after $50 instant rebate.

I would not use a Maxtor drive again if my life depended on it, I have had such foul luck with Maxtor drives it's not even funny.

Just lost a Diamond Max 8 this weekend, and of course since it was a retail package it was only covered for a year.

Of course, you will find someone that can say the same for each and every other drive manufacturer out there.

I personally, have never had a problem with Maxtor drives. Hell I still have some from 98 and 99 that are still chugging away.

Maxtor's 1-year warranty on retail drives is pretty shoddy though.

We've had DiamondMax 8 series drives fail far more than any other make/model in the Dell machines at work.

My diamondmax8 is on it's last legs after 2 years.. I got it free so I can't complain..

Sure- I have a 1998 vintage Maxtor that is still working fine, doesn't change the fact that at least 80% of the Maxtors I have owned have crashed and burned.

Off the top of my head the number is 6 or 7.

Seagate or high end WD (Raptor) is all I will run now, my data is to important.
