I just tried the link and it works

Got a print scren if you need it

its probably the "SM 3.0 / SLI / HDR"
its alway the most unsexy/boring.....I hope I am wrong..would like to have 3 flavors of 7800 already out in stores on the 11!!

Hmm it didn't work for me a minute ago...and now it does. For me, it still won't let you click on the banner at zipzoomfly, but the page is still up.

Edit: actually, it works when I click on the link...but not when I copy and paste in browser, odd?

this has to be something big (well..something kinda big)
and if it isn't about the new 7800GT(which will be released then too) and the FX4500/7800Ultra(which we know is "in the wings") with the new 7800GTX that is out...make'n it 3

looking at these...

nothing on that list is really all that great..or any kind of "big deal"

the other things brought up that could be likely
this...

but the 7800GT(me thinks)

or...

the possibility of the one thing I think it could be...that does "fit Zinn's list"
New drivers...but the 80.40's aren't anything that is worth throwing a party about
but the 3D Stereo Drivers might be...as up till now...the 3D stuff doesn't work with SLI....but the new cards (the one in that leaked image) show a 3D Stereo connector..and it is a SLI card

so I'm still betting that it is this....because the 'banner' seems to point to a new/different tech in graphics not really cards(that you would need/want to buy)

(re-post)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
or its just something that the new 3rd card has....something I used before...but now it come's with the card..built in...and now these cards should have the power to do...esp. with 2 cards in SLI...as that would be perfect...SLI really didn't do that much when combined together...but for this...use'n two cards makes perfect sense

and this is something that will work with all games...something that really hasn't been taken advantage of with games....but I have done it before...and the effect is just amazing...I was hooked on it...even tho it really made the games run much slower with my old GeForce3...but SLI would change all that....making games run much better with it...this might even be what they call SLI2...

look at this photo...what is on this card, that has never been on a video card before?
9vgxeg.jpg

Stereo 3D Connector
that is built right into the card..and divers to run it with SLI(SLI does not work with the 3D drivers out now)

how the 3D Stereo works is...

the game is drawn twice...in two views

with the old one slow card set-up this sucked

because it was like the video card had to do twice the work

the card would show one view...and then at the next refresh of the display show the other...so the card was in-sync with the displays re-fresh...then you had a pair of glasses that would 'flicker' in-sync with the display...blacking out one eye...so it would see one image...and then the other eye, so it would see a different image

looking at the screen without the glasses just looked like a mess(they now have display that can some how do this without glasses)
but with the glasses on...any game is now really 3D...your monitor looked liked a fish tank....you felt like you could stick your hand in a touch stuff

http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d_stereo.html

now with two cards in SLI...one card could just draw one view....and the 2nd card could draw the other view

..the power of 3 and then on the 11th they just add a D....make'n it"the power of 3D"...with the "D" crashing thru a wall or something

This man has imho is correct

well...if I'm not...I sure hope they do this anyway

when you go to the Stereo 3D Driver page now http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dstereo_71.89.html

you see that it sez... "Currently SLI does not work when using 3D Stereo drivers."
"Currently" that gives me the most hope..that they are working/come'n up with something for SLI
you will also notice that the driver version is quite a bit older(they always are alittle bit) and is really ready for a new one to be released

this would be a whole new 'mode' for SLI...with one card 'drawing' the odd frames, and the other card 'drawing' the even frames...I'm not sure why this hasn't been done before with normal SLI (anyone know?)...but this would double the frame rate of use'n one card..with still keeping the same 'load' on the CPU...as the physics, movement, actions, and stuff that the CPU does would still be the same...just the two cards would draw the scene from two slightly different view points

I know I'm doing a pretty "hard sell" on this being the answer( I use to be a used car salesman )...but its just that I really enjoyed this with my GeForce3 (still looking for what I did with those glasses)...and when I first saw/heard of SLI from nVidia, it was the first thing I thought of

Brent_Justice would tell me if I was wrong...wouldn't he?

I'm working on building a new computer...and it just seems like as soon as I'm all set to buy...something new comes long that I have to wait and see what "pans out"
atho this 3D thing still works with any nVidia card (Quadro's too)...I would like to know if it will be worth the wait for any type of special hardware that may use this better

I have never heard of JetWay, but they make a 3 slot PCI Express x16 motherboard that is listed on newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813153030

It appears to use a standard nForce4 SLI chipset, so I am not sure if a 3 way config would be possible… maybe with reduced bandwith and a custom bios update. Hmm……… thoughts?????

From reading one of the reviews, it appears the yellow slot is for single card operation and the two green slots are for SLI operation.

well i now know what it is, and im quite dissapointed. Marketing ploy more then anything.

this thread looks retarded now, and the worst part is... i helped :(

What is it? I only read the 1st and last pages and I'm confused :(

I have it on good authority that they are reverting back to the NForce 3 as their flagship chipset and cancelling all support for PCIE.

:p

I don't think its the Stereo 3D stuff any more...I wish it was, but it looks like just all Quadro cards have been big on the 3D thing all along

I bet its just some marketing hype on SmartShader 3.0

i think that whatever it is, it should be pretty big. they're advertising this and and causing lots of excitement and hype over it by keeping it a secret, and in the ad it compares it to revolutionary advances in technology such as dial up to DSL and vynils to CD's, so im pretty sure it is something big.

ALL RIGHT!! I always hated PCI-E. there was no good reason to make a new standard for video when AGP bandwidth was nowhere near choked yet. Yeah PCI-E doesn't require you to plug your video card into a molex and there's a few little advantages, but not enough to go make a new standard.

I hope you're right.

I've seen similar rumblings from people who "really" should know so I believe you. No hype for me until the 11th.

My first reaction was the release of an Integrated Graphics Chipset with SLI support, and a driver that can "scale" to use all 3 GPU's at once.

IG + SLI + Driver = 3
GPU + GPU + (integrated)GPU = 3 (or GPU to the power of 3).

Or they could be releasing an NVIDIA branded Mach 3 :D

C.J.

How about a card similar to the All in Wonder cards?

GPU+TV+support for hardware encoding/decoding of some video codecs? They could call it Media Processing Unit so you have:
1) GPU
2) TV
3) MPU

Voilla, the power of three.

Heh there we go. The power of three is a marketing campaign in which nvidia touts its superior featureset over the competition. A campaign aimed to promote, SLI, HDR, and SM 3.0.

So lazy arse ppl like me dont have to click

WTF, how is that worth counting down to? To throwback to an earlier post, that'd be like if after gillette came out with the mach 3, they had a countdown secret super duper awesome promotion on their site to say their razor had 3 blades. I hope that's not true.

Mach 3 is old news, I brought out the Mach XXXXV last weekend.

But yeah, lame. Who cares? No one uses HDR, and few use SM3.0.

I use HDR in FarCry 1.3..and SM3.0?
I use SM3.0 and HDR in Spinter Cell: Chaos Theory?
I use SM3.0 in Pacific Fighters?
I use SM3.0 in Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth?
I used SM3.0 in LEGO: Star wars?

So your statment that "No one uses HDR" is FUD...I just counterproved you
And please define "few use SM3.0"?
few?
1?
2?
5?
10?

Terra -

i have a theory: going along with the SM3, HDR, SLI assumption. People noted that this isnt brand new technology to be marketing this hard. Think about it this way, everyone knows HDR takes a huge performance hit, making the game run much slower. With SLI and maybe new/better drivers that actually increase performance somewhat close to its on paper specs this can be a reality. The power of 3 = SM3 + HDR, and improved SLI to actually run it at a good fps. This would justify this type of marketing campaign.

My close second guess is 7800, 7800gt, 7800gtx

X

Gah hasn't it been said like a million times over, you DON'T need sm 3.0 to run HDR. Stop spewing that out, please.

Ohhh woopdy do!
That is sure worth the Power of three banner.
But I guess it has sent every computer forum in the world into threads like this one!

Job done!

Its just the release of the remaining cards in the 7800 line. woopyfkndoo.

With the complete 7800 series now available, there's a card to suit every budget - ergo the tagline; so dont buy 'old' (read, 'cheaper/outdated') graphics. Those of you for whom the GTX was out of reach, rejoice - you can now afford your own slice of 7800 heaven. Come fence-sitters, its time to spend your money!!

So obvious, and so totally not worth all this ridiculous speculation.

There's actually a much larger reason that most people seem to ignore: PCI-E is a serial protocol, unlike the parallel AGP / PCI. The major benefit of this is that it makes routing the traces on the motherboard significantly easier to lay out, reducing the design time, therefore making the board cheaper to produce.

Another benefit is that it has equal bandwidth in both directions, which makes things like SLi possible.
