Was wondering when this would have its own thread..
Too bad I already own one..
Its an extremely quiet drive.. at least to my ears.

got one as well... nice deal. had to pay tax, but still at 75 bucks, it's a great deal. :D

thanks, i had been looking for one. Picked one last night, not bad with tax, out the door for under 75

I've bought 2 of these so far and they are great drives.. this is a great price too.. i just ordered my 3rd the other day for 48 after rebate.. but this is a no rebater...

ive got 4 of these in a raid5 array.

dirt as cheap, 600gig raid5 array for 300 bucks.

rules.

I'd like to purchase 3 or 4 of these and install them in an extrernal HDD enclosure. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've never installed this type of set up so any info would be greatly appreciated.

If only this was the 16mb SATA drive

Ah, but what a dream.

Front page link had me excited, then I see it's IDE...I have an empty supermicro 5-to-3 module I keep thinking about refilling for some network storage, but it's SATA.

IDE is not a good option for multi-drive external boxes, that's really SCSI realm.

Although SATA (esp SATA2) is catching up pretty fast, at my work we currently sell storage systems using SATA RAID with up to 4 TB or storage...

The systems are pretty stable and fast, but for the most part the drives you can currently get for SATA aren't meant for high capacity RAID storage (we use special drives the HD manufacturers qualify for this role), SATA 2 should start to change that...

You can also pick up this drive in store for $79 if you cant wait for shipping
Its labeled as $129 but rings up @ the lower price.
