Blazin Hot! BFG GeForce 7800 GTX $491 at Dell

I ordered one on Monday night... July 25th shipping date. If it works, I'll giggle like a school girl on crack. If not, and I get "burned" like I did with the Gateway deal, so be it...

On the other hand.... anyone looking to buy 2 6800GTs for a good price =D?
 
Well, my card came in. It's sitting in the mail room right now, waiting for me to pick it up. The mail room is locked until 9 or 10AM tomorrow.

WOOOOHOOOOOO!

Just checked my order status and mine shipped!!! Ordered on Thursday the 7th, shipped Tuesday the 12th via DHL. I was lucky enough to score a 20% coupon instead of the automatic 10%, so my total with tax was only $455.12. I would say this is one of the hottest deals I've ever gotten. A lot of people are grumbling that the price of these cards is gonna drop like a rock. In my opinion, as long consumers are still buying them at $599, they're not going to drop significantly any time soon, simple rule of supply and demand. Now the wait continues for my Dim XPS Gen 5 to get here that's been delayed for two weeks. :rolleyes:

Edit: BTW - my estimated ship date when I ordered was July 22nd, so take your ship date with a grain of salt.
 
Regardless it'll usually say 2 weeks. They dont overcommit. If they had a hard time getting them they will usually estimate even longer. Be sure and actually log into Dell to check. The only email you will get are these conservative guesstimates. Both my 2405FPW and GTX took about 5 days to get to me. ALl these people crying foul are going to trumpet that they were right, but it's probably only going to be the guys that have waited for what, like the second week the deal's have been going, to actually wait near a month. Snooze you lose, I think they have bigger fish to fry.
 
My order was placed on the ninth and it still says backordered, even when I log in :(

Still, saving $110 is nothing to sneeze at.
 
I ordered mine on the 9th with that first coupon and dell just refunded my credit card.. Is dell cancelling orders now?

Ordered on the 7th, and I still show backordered with ESD of 22nd.
 
Ordered on the 8th and mine is still showing a backordered status with an expected ship date of 7/25.
 
WHOA!!!! They raised the price to $600 AFTER INSTANT REBATES! They claim it's $667 retail! LIARS!

Yeah, when I check status it still says ESD is the 25th, but my credit card statment says dell refunded my credit card :confused:
 
I ordered mine on the 7th.. it didn't show backordered or anything.. then all of the sudden today it shows back ordered. WTF... Dell hasn't charged my card yet tho, i dont think they do until it ships.

Yeah, I thought they only charged the card when it ships.
 
They will put a hold on funds on your card but not actually charge it. Usually when something gets backordered they release the hold so it shows as a refund on the card. I am not positive on this but I don't think they can put a hold longer than 10 days on the card without actually charging it so that may be what is happening.

it also say shipped in like 40 years. :)

i ordere 7/8 and used by dell account. it is still charged to my dell account and estimated to ship on the 24th. im in no hurry...so im good assuming they dont cancel it.
 
Well, here's some good news for everyone hopefully. I had originally ordered on the July 7th.

My order showed backordered yesterday evening. But,

GOT MINE TODAY by DHL. Invoice is dated 7/12. I had requested 2 day on the card and my original ship date had showed July 22. I never received a "your order has shipped email of any kind either.

Also, I ordered 2 more cards (I was actually about to cancel the card I got today) with the Small Business Deal 25%off. I got a call from Dell to my office to confirm that I had order the other 2 cards. I asked the Dell Rep when I could expect them (My email confirmation show an expected ship date of the 25 and 26tht). She said that they now showed a ship date on her system of the 21st of July but I should get them much earlier in that these are coming in on new shipments pretty quickly. I haven't received an updated ship date by email and the online order status hasn't changed. My last 2 orders of stuff from Dell Peripherals had shipped with no notification also.

Now I might have 3 cards coming in--might cancel one of them, not sure. One 7800 gtx in the gaming rig and one in my HTPC or 2 in the gaming rig. Decisions, decisions.
IMO, 500 shipped is what the lowest price of this card will probably be for the next 2 to 4 months. I'm selling off my other rigs anyone and going to build a Winchester or Venice based HTPC and an X2 gaming/misc rig anyway.

nacz, did you order from the dell business or the dell home deal? (the first, 491 price). I ordered 7/7, called in and the lady stated the same thing that was online.

The card I got was from the Dell Home Deal.

I also did the Dell SB deal for 2 additional cards. Dell SB Rep called me to verify the order since I basically did 2 orders separately on Dell SB for these 2. That call was today and she said her system now showed the 21st as ship date but that I would probably get it sooner.

I would wait Dell out if I were anyone thinking they will get a cancellation. I have yet to have this happen with Dell, unlike Best Buy. I had a thumb drive as that was backorder, took like 3 weeks to come but it did arrive. It originally had will ship in 24 hours on it. In that case, I also didn't get a order shipped email.

I had an extra couple ordered through Dell SB as well till this morning when i cancelled them. I figured i was better off just getting the one from Dell Home for $395 shipped and not worrying about trying to sell two of them because i checked out ebay this morning and there was already several on there and prices are going to start to fall when a bunch of people start trying to sell them. It will be hardly worth the trouble after you get done with paypal/ebay fees, shipping cost, insurance and so on.

Oh, I'm not planning on selling them-one for htpc and maybe 2 for my main rig in progress. Besides, I might cancel just one, and even if it shipped. I could just call Dell to return one anyway, unopened of course.

IMO, buying this deal to sell and make a profit by ebaying and causing legitimate buyers from getting a good deal ranks up there with the scum of the Earth that goes to Comicon every year to scoop up the free or limited edition stuff only to sell it later.

BTW, what coupon got you down to 395 shipped?
 
Well folks, I'm sure a few of you have tried, but I just finished talking to a Dell order customer service representitive with the only answer being: "The GeForce card is currently out of stock, I show your estimated shipping date as 7/25/05, now please remember that this can be delayed further if necessary, that is all the information I have, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing you"

Hmmmm...don't know if that sounded too good...I have a nice board, processor etc just waiting there at home for a nice little BFG GeForce 7800GTX PCI-E to fill it's void...and I don't know what to do about it at this point...I was thinking I'd hold off till the end of the week and see what happens. The way it sounds is that they are filling orders, and running out of stock as soon as these cards come in...

From what grahxen said, a few people have already called his store and ordered cards from him because they said they dell cancelled their orders and refunded their cards. Others he said are waiting for their refund so they can get it. I think dell is just playing games now. I think mabey a few of ya will receive your cards, the ones that ordered in the very beginning. But i think they caught on and probably have no choice now. Im not sure what the dell discount price is now, but if you want the cards shipped the same day you order then for $579 then i suggest you order from his place. I have no idea how many he has left but i can call him in the morning and find out or just goto his store and call.

Niether of my orders have been canceled yet, one is the $491 deal with confirmation on Thursday, July 7, 2005 9:03 PM (due 7/22) and the other is the $463 with confirmation Monday, July 11, 2005 10:02 PM (due 7/25). I am willing to bet that Dell will try it's hardest to fill the orders, but I have been wrong before.


It seems wierd that people are waiting on refunds from Dell for cards that are backordered. If Dell didn't have them in stock why would they charge someone's credit card, that is something that I don't understand? They ran a check on my account to make sure I had the money but, I highly doubt they would pull the money on an item that is backordered.
 
Did they actually charge your credit card? Even when you purchase something that hasn't shipped they must perform a temporary authorization to confirm that the funds are actually available. This will clear from your card in a few days as long as they don't ship, otherwise it will remain and actually be charged because they are physically sending you the merchandise.

The total cost was about $380 + tax. I got it for that price with a 20% off coupon.

And for any of you lookking to buy a BFG 7800GTX outside of Dell, you should check Ebay first. I saw several new ones on there going for good prices.

That seems weird too.

Dell does an authorization on your card but not an actual charge when you order. For me, it wasn't charged until it actually shipped. The authorization verifies that the card is valid for that amount of purchase.

I had the authorization affect my available credit balance. I called my CC company and they said that it was an authorization and not a charge. The CC rep stated that if nothing was charged to the account in 5 to 7 days, then the authorization amount would go away.

If anyone had an actual charge show up, definitely call Dell and your CC company to dispute the charge if you've cancelled your order.
 
It seems as though those who are actually going to get the card might get it without notice, so many orders were placed that Dell is shipping them out as soon as they can without updating the status...

I had cash back reported today from dell so hopefully I will see this card before the estimated ship date of the 26th.

Interesting though, b/c DHL never delivers Dell stuff to my location, and we're only about 20-25 min apart.
 
I just got a FedEx 2-day tracking number for something. I dont know what the heck it is though. It doesn't say in the e-mail. I've ordered other stuff but nothing FedEx 2-day. I wonder if this is the 7800GTX from Dell Home? It says it weighs 3kgs. Its suppost to be here monday. The item still says backordered when i check order status on Dell's site. I dont know what it is lol. The only information i got from the e-mail was Carol Harris of MCS was the one that had the tracking information sent from FedEx.
