i sent a reply to someone that emailed me. they have been receiving my reply over and over again for weeks now. one every 15 minutes or so. they are insisting it's on my end, but i don't think they are very computer literate. i keep my system up to date (avg, adaware, spybot...) and there's nothing showing in my sent items in outlook or even in my isp mail server.

any ideas?

Have the person look at the message source and see what mail server the email is coming from. It might be a message that failed to deliver the first time and is now stuck in the retry queue being resent every 15 mins.

you mean just check the return address in the email? are you saying it would be on my server or his mail server? and how would you find out? thanks

Most email programs/webmail will have an option somewhere to view "message source", which will give you like a transcript of the route the email took. Which will include all the mail servers it was sent through. In outlook express you right click on the email, go to properties and then details. Check the originating ip and see if its either yours or your isp's email server. If it's something totaly different then chances are its someone else who has a virus or is flooding him.

check your outbox, i've seen clients with this problem

they'll get a message that will not leave their outbox even though it was sent successfully. therefore everytime you do a send/receive in outlook it resends it. if it is in your outbox just delete it.
