i connected my Creative Zen mp3 player in today to transfer some songs onto my desktop i just formatted, but it seems the usb ports are running low-speed. im not sure where to get drivers to tell windows that they are usb2.0, because they are.

this is my motherboard

there a few things that must be examined if the usb speed seems to be an issue. the very first important question is, although the proper tiers are in effect, drivers installed, and the usb enhanced controller can route to a usb 2.0 device, is the device it self usb 2.0? if you plug the device, and it is usb 2.0 (not 1.x) into a 1.x root, then you will get a warning. this will state that the device supports usb 2.0 transfers, but it has been plugged into a usb 1.x root. this will also provide you the option to locate the 2.0 roots that you have for your system.

check your bios. normally, by default 1.1 and 2.0 are enabled. consult pg 3-14 of your manual. check within device manager for an enhanced usb host controller. make sure that from root the the tier level, and device is usb 2.0.

(tier 1) root 2.0...................(tier 2)usb 2.0 4 port hub....................creative zen device

(tier 1) root 2.0...................creative zen device

*not* (tier 1) root 2.0...................(tier 2)usb 1.x 4 port hub................creative zen device
