Is there any type of advanced bios settings on an asus p4p800-e deluxe board? For example, I am trying to disable agp read and write and there is nothing for that in the bios. I have heard that some motherboards have different keystrokes to access an advanced bios and was wondering if this board might have that. thanks.

intel's core logic is usually more automated. if x is detected then bit x is enabled, instead of bios control. although, it is possible for the motherboards to have these features manipulated through the bios. you are correct that the function is not in the bios with you motherboard. why you are doing this counter productive act is unknown, and probably could have help to explain a bit, noting also the video card, not just motherboard. however, to disable the agp functions, and place it in pci mode, you will need to install a pci to pci bridge driver for the agp interface. if you are tying to do the smart gart ati driver functions, which is almost what i am guessing at, then you are very much so in the wrong area. u can use the smartgart/ccc to control this setting.

Thanks for the help. Well, I have an ATI AIW 8500 that worked fine on my old Abit VP6 MB. I recently upgraded and wanted to keep my video card for the tuner functions, plus I didn't want to spend any more.
But when I run 3DMark2001 to benchmark the difference between the old board and the new one, it would constantly freeze and give me the VPU recover. At that point I was using Catalyst 4.10. Because my card is old, I can't use the latest ATI Multimedia Center, I was stuck with 9.02 (latest is 9.08) which looks like it's only supported by the 4.10 drivers. I also mistakenly thought that the CCC wasn't supported on my card, and the plain-jane control panel doesn't have the option. But you're right, I just typed "smartgart" and found it. When I disable it, the benchmark is fine, I just wish I could keep it on because I don't know if something is wrong.

i would not disable the agp features at all. what you only need to disabled is the useless feature that vpu recover is. vpu recover triggers false positives, and therefore many disable it-this is your problem.
