Well since its only $19.99 I figure it might be worth the money. Did any of you ever play tribes2 and then switch to vengeance? Is the support better, does it have random unsolved ue's\problems? Has the gameplay changed much? I enjoyed t2 but it had to many problems and they let it die. Did they forget about it already or are they still involved a good amount? Any good mods?

Well, the only Tribes Ive played is Aerial Assault on the PS2, awesome FPS. I have heard that there is NO support for vengence.

TV completely bombed, I wouldn't suggest picking it up even at bargain bin prices. Its predecesors are more popular than it

Can't comment on the game but I saw it at staples yesterday for 9.99.......

Poor poor tribes :( How could they let such a great game fall in the shitter.

Its much better than T2, when T2 first came out. Now there are patches for it, and a mod community that made it to be much better than when it was released.

$10 is pretty cheap, and I like T:V pretty well. It just REALLY needs a patch or two, but sadly, that will never happen. They've cut all ties to the game, and there is only one small patch, that was released before the actual game was. So keep that in mind when you get it, what you install, is what you'll get. No fixes in the future.

No money is what they get :)

I think im gonna install tribes2 and play it :) I just hate the whole update process.

If you're going to play an older Tribes, might as well go back to the start. The first really is the best of the series, and I think that the vast majority of people who played the first and either of the later games would agree.

The last time I played the original tribes there was about 10servers I had decent ping on. And the cd is in a box in the garage or attic.

QFT

The first Tribes was the best, T2 was horrible, they changed the whole game around and it felt really weird. I was hoping T:V would be like the original Tribes, but I haven't heard of it being anything like that. :(

The Tribes Vengeance campaign was amazing and fairly long, but I heard the multiplayer sucks due to lack of support.

I'm playing vengeance mp after posting this. It's a fun game. There are alot of "purists" who scream it sucks, yada yada yada, but they said that about t2 as well, and t2 was a fun game, after they fixed it. The main problem with t2 was they released a beta instead of spending another couple of months bug squashing  After it was patched, it became very fun. Don't listen to the haters, for $20 and especially $10 it's more than worth it. God I love dropping the big green boomie on a light capper :D

Compared to t2 is it pretty much the same just a little advanced? Are the problems major or annoying? Is everything balanced out pretty good?

And how big is the multiplayer community. Lots of servers? Generous amount? Only a few good ones?

TV was the so shit, mainly cause they used a crap engine(ut2k3) instead of making their own or modifying the T1 or T2 engine.

Ive played the first 2 tribes for hundreds of combined hours and i personally prefer the first one, though the first 2 are both the best in their own right. TV was shit cause it was basically UT2k3 with jetpacks and it had tiny shit maps.

TV is shit, plain and simple, if you want the true tribes feel that is.

Play the first one, cause its more of the good ol days style when gameplay matterd more than stupid eye candy and CPU raping physics.

To answer the thread topic question, Tribes 2 is 100 times better than TV cause it actually(after some patches) was a friggin mad game unlike TV, which is just stupid.

Tribes: Vengeance is an awesome game. At least if you are an off-line guy. That is how I played it can´t tell how good it´s multiplayer but running skirmish with bots was awesome fine. Didn´t have any issues with bugs either.

I would say it´s definiatly worth the money for the single player alone. The story is actually quite decent and interesting :)

I thought it was a decent change from the regular FPS's. I never played either of the previous Tribes games, so I can't compare it them. For $10 I thought it was pretty good, but then again you can get UT2K4 for $9.99 at gogamer right now.

Tribes 2 Classic is way better then TV, VUG screwed us over on the patch so now not play people play it, still about 3 or 4 good servers, but it wasnt even half the game T2 was. Still a fun game though for the price!

Its only a one patch download now and its only 90mb or something. But I dont have any sound :(

nm I forgot to turn my sound up :p

Its a dumbed down version of t2 so it is less complicated, and maps are smaller, with boundries enforced. Gameplay is fun and fast, depending on the players. I have no problems finding a decent server with at least 12-20 players every night with the in game browser. It is a fun game that you can play for a quick 1/2 hour or for hours on end. If i had to choose i would choose t2, but t:v is still FUN, which is what i care about rather than following the hater crowd........

I played T:V non-stop a good long time. Single player campaign was surprisingly good. Really the best one I've every played for a game that is known first for the MP aspect. They worked the storyline....lot's of cut scenes for immersion....it's good stuff.

MP is also great fun. I'm not a veteran Tribes bi*cher so my take is devoid of the history of Tribes. The game looks good, plays well at high resolutions and came pretty clean code wise right out of the box. In other words, I wouldn't worry about there being no more patching. It runs and plays well as it stands. There is quite a learning curve for the newbie and that's a *good* thing considering this is an FPS. Usually FPSs are only slightly more intelligent than a bag of marbles. If the multiplay servers still have a decent population, I say buy buy buy!
