ATI All-In-Wonder x800 XT for 287.99

Dang, that's even better than newegg's $308 price was... mine oc's to 567/601mhz so far core/mem. I only got my new one yesterday... these are great cards.
 
hmm i hope prices stay this way for a few weeks so i can get one after school ends.

OK, so here's my conundrum (& I'm glad someone posted this thread, b/c I've been fidgeting over this for like the last 30mins):

This card wipes the floor with just about everything but the 6800U, & the X850XT PE. That plus it adds in the AiW capabilities. However, it's AGP.

I've budgeted tax return loot for an upgrade that I'm planning to go through with soon. My current Newegg wish list, however, is for a NF4 Ultra board & an X800XL (PCIe, obviously). Soooooo.... based on what I'm running now (Multibeast, in sig), which route do you guys think I should go with?
 
well you already have a good processor and the motherboard is fine


if you got the x800xt card now, you would have more performance for now but less upgradeability in teh future
 
Right, that's my point, I guess. $280 & be done w/it for now, or $480 & a bit of future-proofing...? I guess it'd be a question of how much that future-proofing would get me...
 
I doubt it would give you that much future-proofing... it's not like you aren't going to want better parts later anyway :).
 
i'd say go for it. get the x800xt. You're gonna have to buy a new CPU and Motherboard for futureproofing.....that's a given. But, you're doing that so that you'll be able to run future cards, not for current performance. see where i'm going? with the x800xt AGP, it'll be faster than your futureproofing setup AND cheaper for the moment. when you want to get the latest video card, you'll have to get a CPU and Mobo like you would have anyway.

omg, I think I ma sell my 6800 ultra for 400 and get this and save the extra money!!!
 
The extremely high quality Rage Theatre 550 chip in it is worth $60 by itself. Even at 339 still a blowout deal.
 
I sooooo wish i had the cash gathered for that. Besides, i dont need a new card, i got a 9800 pro but DAMN that deal is good!
