Just got mine in today. I'll I can say is WOW!! It looks twice as good as the Acer and all the text which was blurry on the Acer is now sharper then I've ever seen. I played Quake 3 all day on it and there is NO GHOSTING whatsoever. It looks tight and it's bright enought to blind you. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and this BTW is my 4th LCD monitor. I have no dead or stuck pixels. I encourage anyone so inclined to go out and get one immediantly!!!!

Welcome aboard the FujiPlus boat :p These monitors do indeed kick rear :p
If you have a chance compare the pixel sizes if you can, someone asked about that after I returned my Acer's.

I won't swear too it but I get the impression that the dot size is indeed smaller and therefore much easier on the eyes in text mode. Whatever the size it's much better then the Acer's performance.

well, it's only 1280x1024 but whatever, i decided it was time to bite on an LCD. placed my order this afternoon

haha i just kinda expected 19" to be 1600x1200 and only realized it wasn't after i ordered it, but oh well. it looks like all the 19ers are 1280x1024 anyway, even the mega expensive ones. too used to CRTs

dayam you for posting this thread...just placed an order today...haha. time to replace the ole' 14" trinitron so thanks as well!!

I have a question about this monitor...how does it look at 1024x768? Also...is there a widescreen version with the same specs and around the same price?

If you buy an LCD, don't buy one planning to lower the resolution from the native one as you are paying for that native resolution, not the size of the screen. No matter what it's going to look bad. You might just want to go with a 15inch LCD. A 17inch LCD might still be 1280*1024, so you might as well go for a 19inch at the same resolution.

Theres only two versions of this monitor, 19" and a 17". The 19" is friggin awesome, I guess the 17" is the same but no clue till someone reviews it.

I was sued to 1024*768 on my CRT but 1280 is just as good on the 19", you really don't notice the difference because the monitor is so much bigger :p

Just ordered 2. Going from 21" trinitron CRTs to these. Hopefully I'll get them by the weekend so I can get some time playing BIA, JKA, and COD on it.

Thanks for all the info so far and the link.

Just got my LCD in and it looks way bigger then my 17", i absolute love it. Its way better then the 50 dollar monitor i picked up 5 years ago.
Anyway i just tested with the pixel test program (Dead Pixel Buddy), no dead pixels.

This is one great buy!
:D :D :D

Thanks for the info. I am on a 15"LCD now.

I was asking about the resolution because that is what I game at. I just wish there was a widescreen version of it.

still waiting...will be here monday. always wanted one...this crt isnt good for the summer...just makes my room hotter

Anyone else get theirs in?
3:35pm - Arrived at Sort Facility - Newark, NJ
woot
depending on how awesome fedex is it'll be here tomorrow or as the website says, monday
already got my dual-monitor configuration all set up :-D

Well, all of you have piqued my interest :D. I'm looking at getting an LCD for my dad. Right now he's using a very old 19" Gateway monitor that was just an old POS I was given from someone who didn't want it anymore. I can tell you there's a reason for it...it's way too dark (regardless of the brightness/contrast settings) and the colors look all washed out.

Anyhow, I'm sure this will sound silly, but for the guys who have it, can you post any screenshots of Diablo II (running at 800x600). Diablo II is really the only game he plays, and unfortunately that's as high as the resolution goes. If the LCD looks decent I'll definitely make a purchase.

I can't post one of those but let me just tell you that it's extremely bright and vivid. I have owned 4 lcd screens in the past and this is definitely the best of the lot.

Bytz, Are you saying that Diablo II running at 800x600 is "extremely bright and vivid" ?

Like _Durandal_, I would like to know how this LCD scales to lower rez. settings.

fedex rules. and now that's that out of the way, i got my monitor this morning. let me preface this by saying this is my first LCD and my previous monitor was a high-end 19" CRT.
+
1) Brightness. this thing is quite a bit brighter than the CRT
2) square corners and flat screen. both are amazing, very helpful on the eyes
3) absolutely no ghosting that i can notice, in both movies and gaming
4) no dead pixels!
5) colors are much richer and defined than on the CRT
-
1) darker colors are all one in the same. Anything close to black, on this monitor, IS black (can this be tuned?). Especially in darker movies, this can be annoying. (watch blade 2 on this monitor to get an idea of what i'm talking about).
ok. i figured out that the darkness problem can be fixed in the nvidia drivers, where it can increase brightness before it sends the video signal. after playing around with the colors, i've been able to get the color pretty good. there's still a slight overpowering of red, but it's not bad.
2) the sharpness, even though set at the lowest value, is very evident. if you take a 1024x768 picture and stretch it to 1280x1024, on the CRT it would be smooth. on the LCD it's very evident. grainy.
24bit color, 1280x1024@60

Overall, definitely satisfied. I couldn't notice any difference between DVI and VGA, so i'm just goingn to settle with DVI because my video card is DVI only. After playing with the nvidia drivers to improve brightness my primary complaint has been alleviated, and i can overall recommend this monitor now.

edited to reflect opinion after further tweaking

how would i go about returning one  do i just call them up and tell them i want to return an unopened package? also will i have to pay a restocking fee? costs to ship it back?

ordered the dell 2005fpw instead :D

just ordered from newegg...few hours later, i received a tracking number. sure hope this monitor looks nice...came down to this and the 1905fp...i didn't wan't movies to look blurry and especially those aggression releasing postal 2 nights... :/

mine came in today, gave it a quick test run and it looked very nice. i was surprised at the quality of it. but...i sent it back to newegg because i placed an order on the 2005fpw the day after i ordered this 19". got the restocking fee waived and paid 9 bucks to ship it back. i wanted that 1650x1080 resolutionnn

Is there a way to raise the height of this monitor? I would like to be able and use my center channel right underneath the screen. Im torn between this and the viewsonic vp171b (8ms).

not sure, i am hoping it arrives tomorrow...but...the vp171b you mentioned is a 17", has a lower contrast ratio, and is $35 more...why would you want that!?

(not to mention my friend had a viewsonic monitor and the freakin` thing exploded after a few hours of ut2004!...it was crazy!)

got it today (day early) been playin with it for an hour, getting used to the 1280X1024, things are a bit smaller than my settings on the 19" crt, but im liking it.

monitor looks nice and feels well-built. no dead pixels (woohoo), still playing with colors (9700 pro with catalyst control center 5.5), but overall, ITS CRISP and the viewing angle seems GREAT. loving it already and i like the black/silver look.

used to be an avid ut2004 player (on a 19" crt) so i reinstalled and tested it for a few games. Colors are great (although not like the crt, but they are more vivid), NO GHOSTING whatsoever. what else can i say im happy with it so far. this is my first lcd so i can't really compare it to much, but the clarity rocks, and is easy on the eyes. can't wait to view porn ( jackazz.nl for some nice pics ) ...anyways it was definately worth the $295 and im surprised i haven't heard of fuji plus before, but i always like to support the underdog ( glad i didn't go with the 1905fp dell after reading about ghosting issues ).

so...go get one of these Fuji Plus FP-988D's if you are in the market for a cheap 19" monitor with above average specs in this price range, you won't be disappointed!

strange, it was just $295 a minute ago until i posted a 5 star rating lol. oh well, its still worth it IMO.

I have to give praise to you all. I read this post earlier this week & I thought it was a phenomenal deal. Problem is I already own a NEC 19" LCD my self I paid $600ish for & didn't need it. However, I remember my mom being jealous with envy when she had a look at my LCD earlier this past year.

So I showed her this deal & convinced her to take the plunge. I built my parents a brand new computer that I fully funded about 6 months ago. This is the finishing touch.

It will be replacing my trusty old heavy hot Gateway VX920 19" Diamondtraon NF (Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 92 in disguise) that I paid $899.00 for back in 2001 through Gateway. Going to hand the old CRT over to my best friend. It's still an excellent monitor in brand new shape cosmetically & visually. Everythings going LCD or some sort of flat panel these days so must move forward. I'm sure my mom will be pleased when she sees the vivid brighter colors on this LCD compared to the CRT.

I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO SOLOTECH FOR FINDING THIS DEAL :D People like me really appreciate it.

Well... I'm definitely contemplating ordering it. I've looked at a ton of other monitors out there. Dells and ViewSonics seem nice. I have a ViewSonic CRT that is pretty awesome. But... most monitors don't compare to this ones specs - especially in this price range! I'm really excited about this deal.

I'm just worried because I'm not familiar with MMI... I also would like to see an LCD in person before buying it. Does anyone know if there is a retail outlet that carries these?

doubt you could find this monitor in any computer store, but believe me it looks just like the newegg pictures -- it doesn't look excessively flashy like some of the samsung/sony lcd's, the attention is drawn towards the vivid colors  ...it looks great on a shiny wooden desk.

I almost went for a dell myself but the comparable model to this (1905fp) has a 20ms response time...and i found that many people were complaining of ghosting in movies and games, even though all reviews i found were positive and some people said there was no ghosting. on the other hand, the dell monitor is an 8-bit panel which has a slightly better color display, in trade for the response time. I am a designer myself but i wanted this monitor for other purposes, like viewing my sites from an alternate lcd like this, and for watching movies etc...and i can tell you there is no ghosting and i have no complaint with the colors.

also if you are looking at other lcd's, i read that another important spec is the contrast ratio, which is something like 600:1 on this (higher than most at this price) as well as the viewing angle which is great on this and tends to be worse for lcd's in this price range. have no tried the speakers on this thing but who cares.

Good feedback through out the posting! Glad I found a keeper.
Ordered one today to replace my aging but ever so crisp CRT.

Ordered 2 for use as LCDTvs (with Viewsonic NextVision 6 boxes) and I must say, very great monitors. One problem however, on LCD has a stuck green pixel that seems it wants to stay. Oh well, its just 1 and off center, not much can be done.

I'll take a look at it once I get it early next week.

Now I may have to get myself a 6600gt/6800xx in order to game well at the native res on it though...Now I just can't decide between which of those two to get. :sadpanda:

Since it'll be AGP I almost figure just get a 6800, one that can be softmodded if nothing else.

I'd go 68xx also. Even just a plain 12pipe 6800. I think it would give you that little extra kick at the LCD's native rez. of 1280*1024.

Keep looking in this Hot Deal's forum you see good deal's on 6800NU and GT's sometime.

In fact from a thread on here isn't this a good deal ?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122195

If you want to spend in the 300 dollar range. If not keep looking for a cheap 6800NU...

RMA time...:(

Plastic's not even off the screen yet.

How often does this sorta thing happen anyway?

On that picture above this post...it looks like the screen was hit hard during shipment...

Was there a "hole" punched in the box when it arrived? Mine came that way late last week. There is no padding between the actual screen & the outer box so if FedEX lets something pierce the box side it will hit the screen for sure. The display is only protected with foam on the panel sides not the front & back. Luckily no indentions were on my screen but I was really scared when I came home & was able to stick my hand all the way through the box & touch the screen before even opening the box. I'm guessing this happened to you. If the box was in good shape then maybe it was dropped/shock factor. I don't know. I'm sure Newegg will work it out for you bud. Good luck : )

Edit: the source of where the fractal/cracks begin in your screen is the exact same spot where the "hole" in my box was that could've almost pierced my display. Bad Fuji packaging with poor FedEX handling it would seem. Bummer :(

yes, there was a small little divot in the side of the box, the thin foam inside was squashed/scratched noticably where the point of impact happened.

It's a fairly noticable crack/spiderweb flowing out of it as a result, visible even through the plastic shipping dust screen..

Won't be able to do much about it til tomorrow. I'll give 'em a call tomorrow, will report back as to what happens.

This is where the piercing occurred.

DSCN0501.jpg

The spot circled is where the impact took place...I think the white's from the foam or whatever went and ground into the screen. The little bubbles are from the plastic dust guard sheet that I never removed.

Somehow, I think they'll buy that it's got more than 8 dead pixels now. ;) I may simply try for a refund and pick something up locally...No offense to Newegg, but I think LCD's may not be the best thing to buy via mail order. And that's something that every etailer's likely to have issues with in shipping.

When I first saw your picture I though to myself, "Wow, that's a really cool background..."

That's really unfortunate. If my machine hadn't just died I'd be ordering one right now.
