I got a Aspire XDreamer II Case, amd 64 3200+, and asusk8v mobo. The mobo is refurbish..

the problem is that when i ever turn on my system, my radio signal (AM) distort and sometimes make so much static that is unaudiable.. the mobo didnt come with a i/o sheild.. so i ebay one... but problem presist... Would the problem come from PSU that come with the case or the mobo? Will this effect my health? i hope it dont release dangerous emission..

uh...Beavis...he said "dangerous emission"... (sorry couldn't resist ;) ).

Pretty much all electronic devices put out some electro-magnetic radiation. It just so happens that the AM signal is more adversely effected by your computer than other signals. My cell phone makes my monitor/speaker do all kinds of strange things for example. Honestly, I'd be much more concerned about your cell phone radiation than your computer radiation.

I'm glad you posted that. I put my cell phone on my desk at work, and the rare times it gets a signal strong enough to ring my computer speakers go nuts. Was worried something was strange about my particular phone model (V220).

Mine is a Nokia 6800. I think it has to do with the frequency it communicates at. My monitor will actually start shaking right before my phone starts ringing, so I can pick up my phone and get ready to answer it before it actually rings :D.

the chasis, and the recent spread spectrum option are to keep radiation from going into and out. yes, the computer radiates. personally, never had issues. my speakers will pop a bit when the yard workers are using a gas powered blower and passes by close while operating it. i never had an issue with my cell phone nor, 2.4Ghz phones.

monitors are sensitive to earth's magnetic field. the distortion of the geometry experienced can be different in other geographical locations. anything the produces interference, phones, fans, radios, anything that radiates will cause distortion.

It's not likely to afflict any troubles upon your health.. Try moving your radio further away from your computer if possible, or just move it around to differing locations until you get good reception..

one insteresting factor, the ignorance of radiation. i learned in medical school that radiation does effect your health in various spectrums that it can be in, and therefore so does the computer for it emits radiation. this is very much the cell phone argument, is it healthy or is it not? from pure factual knowledge it is unhealthly, but our bodies, as do many things, correct mutations, if at all possible, or are resistant in variuous parts. there are many that say that there is not one bit of emperical evidence that suggests smoking is unhealthy for others-second hand smoking. yet, it does'nt take a rocket scientist to realize the effect of the enviroment upon an individual, a la pollen season. everything we do does effect us. how much is dependant upon what you are. oh, side note, and an interesting one, is that emi is what causes ghost hallucinations. that was an interesting study.

ehyah, walk it off you'll be fine.

...ah, such a can of worms you open. A little off topic but it's a valid hardware concern...sort of..:D

I've got a buddy that works for one of the biggest power utility companies there are. They too were concerned about the effects of EM (electro magnetic) radiation on folks. So, they did a study of their lineman - the guys that get drenched with high voltage power line EM fields all day long, as part of their job. No correlation with increased occurances of melanoma's, cancers, cateracts, etc. In short - no evidence that these guys were any more prone to the types of problems attributed to EM fields than any of us.

Use a blow dryer? Use an electric blanket? There are many things in our daily life that are pretty substantial EM emitters. Sure, cell phones are much higher in frequency than power lines, but the long and short of it is that there has yet to be a study that conclusively proves that exposure to "consumer" level EM fields is any issue at all....

On topic - I can't use my AM radio when my laptop is on. It howls pretty good with my NEC 19" tube sitting about 20" away from it; the laptop the same distance away renders it useless. It's nothing to be concerned about; move the radio / re-orient the AC power cable and video cable to the monitor and you should be able to eliminate most of the interferance.

Regards - B.B.S.

Assuming its not a grounding problem.
Does the case have a window? It shouldnt be radiating e/m out through the sides (assuming its steel) but a perspex window has no e/m shielding capabilities whatsoever.
