When is Asus or whomever makes the Bios for them going to get it right.

Gripe #1: 1.65volts for CPU = 1.56 real volts! :(

Gripe#2: They need to allow more voltage tweak on the CPU and Memory.

I'm thinking about going to DFI!

OK i'm done! ;)

Ouch.

What I want to know is whether only 1.65V is borked. I'm going to be build a rig for a friend soon, and we're probably going to run a 3200+ Winchester at the stock 1.40V. Is the 1.40V setting borked too?

no, anything over 1.57 doesnt effect it at all. Everything under that seems ok. Also a major pain in the ass is the board will ONLY allow 2T memory configuration when the HTT is 240 or more. Its a really shitty board in my opinion. Its an overclocking nightmare. Stock i guess it does its job. Asus apparently thought it was below par too and is underway with a complete revision. Wont ever buy asus again i'll tell ya that. Its very close to the quality of me thinking they should of did a recall.

I know these days most people think of overclocking as the way to go, but no manufacturer gurantees any kind of overclocking and this one provides some tools for OC'ing which work well, alebit not to the level you wish. I have the board and wont go near the level of OC as you guys and I think it's an amazing piece of kit. In no way in need of a recall. One of their hardware guys posted on Anandtech forums some weeks ago saying that they are working on a bios to address the 2T issue anyway. Hopefully they'll be able to keep the OC community happy. I agree the volatge thing is a bit crap tho, especially for Asus.

Any ideas what is fixed with this bios? I have been running 1007.003 beta for about 3 weeks now with no problems at all.

Actually I'm pretty satisfied with the board other than the two gripes. I haven't had any type of "malfunctions" with it at all. Oh also gripe#3 2T problem.

I've had mine up and stable for months now without a single issue. Mind you, I don't overclock until the system starts to chug so take that for what it's worth. Thus far I haven't needed to OC and it's been the kitten's mittens, but I guess some people will never be satisfied..

Count me as another satisfied A8N SLI owner. I've had it since January, and it's been running great. I had some RAM frequency issues early that I originally attributed to the mobo given all the gripes people had with it, but it turned out that it was the RAM itself. Good thing, too, because the mobo would have been a major pain to RMA...

I intend for this board to go through at least 2 or 3 upgrade cycles :D

Tis nice to see some other people happy with it. All you tend to see on the forum is people moaning about it. It had its problems for me when I first got it, all of which have been solved by subsequent bios releases.

Any problems other problems with 1007 final?

When i had the 1007-004 it crashed when i played FAR CRY at normal speeds.
Finally i turned up at 1006 bios and i run at 2421 with no problems.
Moreover with 1006 when i put the cpu voltage at 1.650 it isn;t really there but at 1.538(cpu-z). ;)

On the ASUS web site under the beta bios revision history there is a 1008.001 listed but no link for download. FYI :)

Count me as another happy owner. The board is packed with features and came with everything you need. I've been running mine since December, fast and stable.

As for the 1T issue, 240 is about the minimum you should be able to achieve. The expected range for the upper limit that can handle 1T is anywhere from 240 to 255. Not only that, but the Athlon 64 thrives on lower memory timing, not bandwidth. If you're looking to push your CPU, drop the memory setting down to 5:6, lower the memory timings (which will improve your performance anyway), and continue pumping up the FSB.

I'm happy enough hitting 2400MHz with my 3200+ using the retail HSF. Am I supposed to cry because I only got 20% more than I paid for? Hell, I only wish I got 20% more of everything I pay for! LOL!
