Just like the title says. which is better on a 754 Mobo??

nVidia nForce3 Pro 250 GB OR
VIA K8T800

i want to OC a Sempton 3100+

Thanks

from a guy who had an via and nf3 chipset, it depends on the proc really. 3000+ and higher, if you dont plan to drop the multi, and wont oc past 270, via will be fine, but only the kv8-pro, if you get a 2800+ or sempron, then nf3 all the way. its a double standard

actually, via is very good at stock speeds, quite often being faster than the nf3.
also, the newer k8t800 chipsets have an agp/pci lock.. that seems to work

so via really isn't too bad.. BUT, go with the dfi lanparty ut nf3. hands down the best s754 board ever.

agreed (cf). or if your lacking cash, get the vnf3-250, i can help you with any issues, as i have already hit and overcame them :D

i know this is a more of an oc question, but i can say with confidence, and empirical evidence that via makes horrible core logics. (cf)eclipse, you know how core logics are my forte. if i was to give a oc opinion, i would take the sacrifice in possible oc for a more robust, and stable core logic any time.

indeed i do know, as you have proven to me many times over :D
thus why i quote you for emphasis. ;)

ive had lots of problems with Via in the past.
I am so happy with my nforce 3 mobo (MSI K8N)
it has without a doubt been the best computer I have had.
Overclocks decent, and is VERY stable.

nF3 on the DFI Lp 250Gb...

Hands Down if u want to OC.

On hte other hand the DFI LP cost a bit more then the most and if U want a Sempron U might be on a budget. And if Ure not on a tight budget talk to cfEclipse he is the 754 Guru. Hed probably recommend a 3200 or 3400 or even one of the new DTRs (depending on price) but Ull get the best advice money can buy (and Ull get it for free :D)

heh, well he said he wants to oc a sempron 3100+, the're relatively cheap.

if a 3000+ or 3200+ mobile (DTR works too, but the true mobiles rated for 1.4v are better) is obtainable, definitly get one with the dfi nf3 over the sempron. i mean seriously, 4x the cache, and most likely clocks higher  :D
