I was wondering if I would loose any real performance by using the value select memory in my amd 64 setup?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanx

maybe 5% in synthetic benchmarks and around 0-2% for normal programs from the looser timings.

though if you plan to oc, you won't have as much flexiblity with the ram speed.

If you're planning to run it at stock speeds, there really won't be much of a difference at all.

i use the value select, and i am very pleased with it. spd programmed timings are 2.5-3-3-8, no manual timings needed to be set. this is with a a64 3500 (win), asus a8v. i will be receving today a giabyte k8ns. i am curious about the memory compatibility with this mortherboard for nothing is stated on gigabytes web site. i specifically purchased value select for it was listed compatible with the a8v.

I'm not going to OC this system.
Thank you guys so much. You just saved me some money I can put toward my new mountain bike.

I just bought some Corsair Value. Should get it Friday from the Egg. I hope that there isn't too much of a hit just because I'm too cheap to get the good stuff! ;)

I have the corsair XMS ram and I am very please with it but I don't overclock and I wish I hadn't spent the money and had just gotten the value ram instead. It would run my system just the same and I would have saved close to 100 extra bucks.

the value select is working excellent on all test and burn in's. this is using the gigabyte k8ns-ultra.

I purchased a gig of value select and it made a big improvement in gaming performance.

THank you H-Forum'rs You all kick ass.
