I recently re-formatted a dell computer with the supplied restore disks. Now, each time the computer turns on, it makes me choose between two choices of operating systems. Both choices are windows xp home along with a countdown timer of 30 seconds. Is there any way to remove the second option or have it automatically boot into windows? Having to hit enter and make a choice is rather annoying. Thanks for any help!

Go to My Computer and right click. Select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab, then to Startup and Recovery settings. From there you can select the option to edit your boot.ini.

That happened to me too after the dell guy come and fix my computer. The top one is Windows and the bottom one is dos i think. But how strange, they both say windows.

You can set it to have no timeout if you prefer. You'll see it when you get to the startup options.

Thanks, looks like that will work. Freakin' dell restore disks!
