The OFFICIAL post pics of your SFF thread...

Interesting setup there Mike....how efficient is it? Gained much on your overclocks with those units?

Well, unfortunately I chose the wrong board for overclocking. Gigabyte K8VM800M.

But even if I could, there are some serious heat issues in this antec case that even water cooling doesn't help. I need to modify this case to have intake fans on either side panel. If I don't then my memory gets damn hot and causes system instability. Same thing is happening with my video card on the other side. If I try to do some video capture then my system freezes and the video dies. So regardless that I'm water cooling the video card core and cpu, it's not helping other components from getting too hot also.

I don't particularly think the arias are ugly, more like when shuttles are in the mix, nothing realy compares.

One thing they did wrong though imo is they mix very stylised items with basic looking items. The front io ports and card reader don't go well with the basic looking power and reset. It seemed like they stopped trying half way into the design of it. And for some reason, to me, the size and shape of the case seems to somehow be completely unflattering to the cdrom.

I agree, the Aria is definently Antecs poorest designed cases.

And I just noticed that guy a few pics up had a SATA cd drive...and newegg only has 4 and they're expensive for those drives. $40 over the IDE versions. hmm

EDIT: Cept that combo drive is $55. Wouldn't mind a combo drive but I never watch DVDs on here. And never need to burn em either. So pointless upgrade for me.

But..........smaller..........cable. ;)

lol yes...you have a point..but i think i could buy smaller rounded ide cables and get sorta the same effect no?

That is true, FrozenCPU for one has some small little 6" rounded IDE cables.....so it'd still be nicer then using a regular ol' ribbon for sure. ;)

Let me just basically reserve my spot right now....as I'm in the process of looking for buyers for every peice of my system, apart from the memory and hard drive.....more here.

I already posted this on the "2005 Post Your Workstation" thread, but since it's a SFF, I'll put the pic in here too.. :) I haven't really modded it, and I'm planning to keep it like that for a while.. I've got quarantee left for more than 6 months.. But well, I think I'll start modding it anyway in a couple of months.. I've already planned some cutting, cold cathodes and such.. We'll see.. :D

I have to say that looks really nice. It blends in with everything. :D

Agreed, I wouldn't want that thing on my desk, as it looks a little strange IMO...but it goes VERY nicely right where it is...good stuff. :)

Hmmm.. I dunno about that.. I think it looks good on desk also, I had it on my desk earlier, but then I wanted a little more space on my desk and decided to put it there with the other electronic stuff..

But hey, everyone has their own opinions.. I don't like all the Shuttles.. ;)

Heres some photos from Google, until I get my own pics..

For sure bro, I don't like all the shuttles either, I like most of the second generation chasis' and the newer G5's.....but there were a LOT of models in there that I think are butt ugly...and personally I just don't care much for that AOpen SFF. No biggy. ;)

when oh when are they going to put out a small box that can hold two opticals, and two hdds?

Well nothin really stops you from doing that already. 2 hard drives can fit easily in most of the shuttles and hi speed buses like USB2 and Firewire let you add a drive that sits on top of the compy. But that would be my solution anyway. Don't listen to me..haha :D

Good point and true....but I like things tidy. So I guess I really do have to build my own. Oh well, I am making it to fit in with my office and sit on my desk but not look like a computer. Wish me luck.

top one is shuttle sn41G2 nforce based shuttle with soundstorm mainly used to watch dvd from.

middel is a shuttle 75G2 mobo in an amd 83G5 case. (orignaly killed the amd mob and cpu- death by pepsi max) this is now fitted with a xfx 6800gt and is me main gaming rigg.

bottom is me trusty old shuttle ss51G with a 6800gt and 3gig cpu it sitill gives me 50-60 fps in cs: source. note: ongoing mod it has a shuttle SB61G2 face plate with an matrix orbital lcd almost installed.

For a minute there, i thought i was looking at the cellular make up of a group of plant cells..... what ever that green thing is.

heh sorry forgot about the big size, shall do it soon as match of the day finishes.

and the green stuff is wall paper. :D

Here's my Shuttle SN41G2, which is about to be retired in exchange for a Monarch Hornet system (I need more space to add pretty toys). As for the glow wire mod, I discovered that the file on my Leatherman Wave is the same width as glow wire, so I filed a channel into the plastic back bezel, and then just ran the wire through. It's fun in the dark.

I added a 5.25" bay speaker for general sound, since this is my work machine, not my media machine. As for the innards:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Thorton core)
1GB DDR333 Corsair RAM
160GB Maxtor HDD
8x Lite-on DVD Burner
Floppy/Media card reader

Oh, and I'm pimping the LCDs as well:

Like someone said already, that's the AOpen XC Cube EX65PE "Sporty Cube".

It's been damn good, and I can really recommend it. Only downside is the rather high noiselevel, but nothing too bad.. Anyway it's pretty easy to quiet it down. ;)

image of just stealthed dvdrom drive...(sry its a little blurry i had the camera set on the wrong setting).

This is a project I have been working on for awhile... it's pretty much finished. I wanted to water cool an antec aria using parts from my old computer and didn't want any hoses sticking out... pretty much wanted it all self contained. The server psu I decided to go with was kinda loud so I brought the fans down to about 8v each (much quieter). I can't remember the site, but there was another guy who had mounted his psu the same way, it was a big help in planning this out (I'll try and post a link to it). Over all I would consider it a success. Temps are good, [email protected] runs 34c idle and 41c load (ambient is 24c). Here are the specs:

Antec Aria
400w 1U server psu (good for a future athlon64 system ;) )
mbarton 2.4ghz (1.65v 200x12)
biostar M7NCG 400
2x256mb corsair xms (2-2-2-7 2.7v) dual channel

Very interesting, mind sharing more about how you mounted the 1U PSU, model, etc, and about the WCing setup/install?
