Wow, 40145 3DM01 points! Someone testing R520 on Driverheaven?

gosh you guys.....would you believe whatever that is If I posted a picture and blurred out the graphics and posted an image of a 3dmark score that I might've photoshopped?
Yes, if you had access to pre-release products from a company.

Denial is a beautiful thing. ;)

I personaly dont care about the cards i dont care if it ends up being true. what bothers me is people beliving driver haven, a KNOWN deliberate lier in any matters of reality. If the ati card is that good hot shit ill stay with ati (that what i have right now) but the INQ is a thousand times more reputable then DH

w/e..hehe i don't care what nvidia's or ati's next big offering is hehe...I am keeping my computer for the next 1.5-2 years and then a bigass upgrade when I turn 18 :) yes..I am off my parents money right now heh.....

I am gonna get a part-time job when I am 18 and save a grip of money and get myself dual cores whatever and SLI ati or nvidia second best card :) like the 6800gt for example hhehe

Oh yes and as a disclamer i do hold stock in atyt

That doesn't necessarily make you biased, they are a nicely performing stock if you bought during the 9700 days

yea but if people here trust DH, who knows what they will bring up and why

Ass apposed to a liar in matters of fiction?

he stated that this is not based on current architechture

and that it will be shown at the Texas Lan on the 25th...3 days from now

regardless though, I'm happy I put off my upgrade until the Summer :)

dude, ill be honest i have no idea what you trying to say, but what im saying is they deliberatly lied to the public in order to push there point, they didn't scew the facts, they didn't recieve faulty info that gave them an incorrect conclusion, they lied about their facts, now why i dont know but it looks like laziness

Guys I just got a reply email from him. It's the next XGI Volari.

If this is true, then that's awesome news for XGI and for the video card market in general (I used to keep up with XGI since they were founded, but stopped after many tests proved their high-end cards to be poor performers).

EDIT: but that O.R.B. screenshot looks promising. I guess a 24-pipe card could pull off 40,000+ 3Dmarks, since a 16-pipe one can pull off 30,000+.

I think this should officaly be called the....

Lets come up with the best rumors out there and have pohotshoped, or blurry images as proof!

LOL. ;) I said a bone, not a full course dinner.

It's good to know there are people who catch on fast....

Thats fake, he just messed with the SI.xml.

I know ;), just reading these guys posts, that I thought while I'm in Rome I might as well do as the Romans, eh?

Some people fall so fast & easy.........

Just to state something obvious. 256mb to 512mb on card memory shouldnt see an improvment in 3Dmark01 assuming its at the same speeds. It simply wont support it. Same way you wont see much of a difference between 256mb system ram and 2 gig system ram. Doesnt utilize it. Thats suppose to be something 3Dmark05 will take advantage of. So im assuming its something else.

512bit 256mb memory GDDR4 on an X850?

Considering they are trying to hit the record for OC, i really do doubt it will be a new product ready for release. Especially a 512mb one off the same core that was just started to release. We would of heard something already. Factor in the fact that no manufacturer has said a word, and that the card itself, if it is infact just an X850 with 512mem. Wouldnt make economic sence with the R520 promised to be released in May. So 4-5months before a revolutionary core they're going to just randomly announce and release a slew of super expensive cards? They wont even be able to get these in any decent quantity for another 2 months. At least. So im gunning for a new type, or faster memory, not more, or they have an R520 test sample. Its not like its statistics will be secret for much longer.

lololol

The best part, is knowing there are packs of hyenas like Dillusion who jump when anyone posts fake stuff.

It's too easy, like throwing catnip into a lions den. :)

I think reading HardOCP forums is better than watching TV!

Ah! The entertainment, the drama, the suspense!

Ill believe DH before I believe the INQ

Plus, That sounds like the stupidest Idea ever...

Allow me to enlighten you:

Over the last week I have been playing with Half life 2 and a mixture of ATI and Nvidia hardware with the newest released ATI 4.12 beta drivers and Nvidia's newest 66.93 drivers.

That's a direct quote from this article at DH:

http://www.driverheaven.net/articles/Half life 2/

Curiously, this article was released the day that ATi released their preliminary benchmarks which these benchmarks match EXACTLY. Also note that he says he's been playing it for a week...which is a boldfaced lie, since nobody outside of Valve or ATi had posession of the game when this was written.

Basically Zardon lied his ass off so he could show benchmarks first to get webpage hits. He never had the game, he never ran any benchmarks. He's a liar.

The Inq chases rumors and they're not always right, but they have never, in my experience, lied like this...not even close...

Well funny thing is everyone laughed at the inq when they said NV40 was gonna be a 16piped card? Then it was also laughed at when they first told of the 6800GT? Not bad rumors considering both were pretty much spot on.
I also think i read from somewhere i think it was beyond3d that macci and opainter were both getting given a run with R520.

The point that you're missing is that there is no way that an 850xt pe with 512mb of ram will provide ANY benefit over an 850xt pe 256mb in any game/application that does not exceed a 257mb framebuffer. In fact in may be slower due to higher latency req. from accessing the larger framebuffer. The inq may be right...the card that Zardon has may in fact be a 850xt pe with 512mb of ram, but if it is, that extra 256mb of local framebuffer is not the reason his card is so fast.

On another note, if you double check the posts he has been making in his original thread, you will notice that he refers to the graphics subsystem as card(s). Taken together with the rumour that ATI's AMR does not require a bridge, this may be an indication that the new hardware being debuted at the OC competition is infact an AMR capable motherboard. As always just somethign to think about.

I think you read me wrong  I was talkin about Macci and Opainter might be getting a test run on a reference model R520.I know an X850 even with 512 of ram would need to be extremely clocked to even hope to get that score.
But hopefully we shall findout more soon.

One quick note:

Wouldn't ATI's naming convention require a new core (ie, the R520) to be named the 900, when they most of the time, reserve the 50 addition (800-850, 9800 - 9850) for the refresh?

Just a question in logic...

Seeing the lack of ATi cards now..I would not hold my breath for the "new" cards to come out...I think you will be blue for a long ass time.

Go to ATIs Website on the left hand side it says.

ATI Invites Gamers to Tweak Their PCs With the PROs and Get a Sneak Peek at the World's First 512MB Gaming Card

So the 512 cards are not lies but I dont know about Zardon. 40k in 3DM01 is still way too high even for a 512 card. Also the 512 card would give boosts when heavy AA and AF plus high resolution are up.

Ok....

Lets agree on something. NOTHING is going to give a boost in 3DM01 to give 40k+ unless it's new technology, or an insanely OC'ed card. But, as DH said, it's new tech. Thus, unless ATi/nVidia/Intel/AMD decide to say 'Hey, we just created this new tech, eleventy billion 3D Marks in 01!' don't get your hopes up.

Read my previous post, what Im saying is that It seems plausable that the reason the current ATI Cards arnt easy to find (well, in canada they are easier to find then Nvidias like ultras) is because they spent 2 years developing this tech (since it sounds like great tech) and since they couldnt go through A year selling 9800pros, they had to comeup with a faster card (hence the reason they X8** are built apon 9700 tech) but since most of there recourses were used up developing the R520, they couldnt make as many X8 cards as they wanted.

Just my theory

I would like to point out that all the ICs and caps on the card that DH posted all line up with the ICs and caps on a stock x850xt...

DH card - http://www.driverheaven.net/zardon/front.jpg

stock x850xt - http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?style=album

use the upper right hand corner in the newegg shot to referance the 850xt caps, than look at the DH pic, they match

On the DH...the logo of the 850 is behind the rig...are they saying it is something different? If so, why is it displayed that way?
