Just released this morning. Feedback from different forums indicates a mixed bag of results. Some claim big performance and image quality boots while others report drops in performance and various minor bugs. Your results may vary. ;)

If you are daring enough to try new drivers, please post here with your results.

These seem to have major SLI problems. Myself and a couple others over and nvnews have seen the same thing (two people on Asus boards, one on a DFI I think).

hmm, neat, I'll have to try them out.

Any word when the 76.00's are coming out? :D

thanks. i was about to install 71.81, but i'll try these instead. :D

Installed 'em this morning with no issues. I didn't put them through the paces yet, but didn't see any problems with HL in the 5 minutes I tried it.

They idle 10 degrees hotter than the 65.76.
Why do some of the 7x.xx series drivers run so hot??

how about heading over to nvnews.net and reading all about it..this is already really old news (about the temps) addressed in many posts there and @ guru3d.

If you want to try the newest drivers you'll have to set your 2d clock to 401 and the temps will go down. Word is the temp increase is REAL and not just software glitch, so set your 2d clock to run higher at startup. Personally I didn't like these drivers, opengl performance went way down for me...but I think the IQ was comparable or slightly better than 71.81 which I'm using ATM.

It seems that the Temperature/Heat bug affects 6800GT's and can be solved by overclocking 2D to at least 401. The problem is that anything less will cause the fan to spin down and not cool the card as effectively.

Gonna test em on my 6600GT agp, since I have a crashing problem with nascar simracing, and blue scren sys nv_disp.
Didnt get blue screen before, guess problem isn't as bad, cuz before it just reset.
oh well.
edit- these drivers don't install right- install goes fine, but the driver doesn't work, no nvidia icon, and games dont think I have a display driver.
downloading the 71.81 drivers.

SLI problems may be isolated to the DVI port connected to an LCD only. SLI on a CRT seems to work fine with this set though

no problems here dfi, ultras...

I read the heat issues might also only be an error in reporting.
Some people claim it's real, and others say it's not at all. both seem to be testing credibly, so ...who knows?
Either way, these work fine for me.

NVIDIA stated that the drivers were incorrectly showing the temperature.

I figured out the problem: for some reason when I uninstalled+ driver cleaned and rebooted, hardware accell was completely disabled.
Oh well, the 71.81 are working for me.
Also it got rid of the grainy look to nascar simracing.
Now I just need to get good at it- those people who say nascar's easy cuz they only turn left are full of shit.
I am an avid road course simracer, and it's completely different.

say what? Link please?
yea, link plz!

I read about the temperature reading error theory here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=1896 , but it was never official.

Some people have a problem, some people don't. My temperatures under load with 71.80 and 75.90 are normal (9C/25C over ambient idle/load)... the same as the official drivers. I wonder what the problem is for some people.

When will they fix the 'bright texture' problem in HL2? or is it just me? the only forceware that doesn't have this problem seems to be 67.02 which i'm using now.

wELL, I think the problem is isolated to GT users only...and can be fixed as stated by moving the 2d clock up past 400.

It's not just GT users. I have a 6800 vanilla and the temp varies depending on the driver also. And the 2d OC trick has nothing to do with the fan since mine is passively cooled and OCing the 2d still take the temp down.

I've had no temp problems with my 6600gt with either the 71.81 or the 75.90 drivers.

71.80 - 55c idle - 74c load
71.81 - 55c idle - 75c load
75.90 - 55c idle - 73c load

Also increased my 3Dmark05 score from 3662 to 3755 using the 75.90 drivers.

I can see why nvidia had the 75.xx drivers used for the go 6800 Ultra reviews today, especially when Doom3 was one of the benchmarks. Those 75.90 drivers managed to squeeze out another >4% boost from even my 6600GT: i'm up to 51fps now at 1600x1200 HQ 8xAF timedemo demo1. :D

It is not the highest I have ever got in 3DMark05 but it is an improvement over 71.81.
So these drivers offer better 3DMark05 performance for me, rather than game performance.

Does anyone happen to have a pic of this problem? I've read about it a lot but I'm not sure what everyone is referring to.

new driver get a plus from me, just installed and my 3dmark05 went up from 5123 to 5534 and doom3 from 57.5 to 59.1fps.my temps are 41 idle with water cooling.

tHESE drivers are jickey....first Nvidia drivers I've ever used where I experienced pauses and freezes in various 3d apps. 71.81 is as good in image quality I think and still rox most games out, that would be my current recommedation.

hmmm, these are working fine for me so far. No pauses in Doom3, HL2 or benchmarks.

Major freezes on HL2 and Far Cry for me. Have no problems on Doom 3 though. HL2 will get funky blue and white dots outlining certain walls or catwalks. Far Cry is unplayable way too much lock ups.:( So much for my awesome 3dmark score. Going back to 71.81.

Wow, these are keepers for me! I think the IQ seems much better on these (I've been running 66.07 due to various bugs in 71+ drivers). Altho the shiney grass is still there in CS, I think its something I can live with.
No temp increases in 2d for me....

Running a 6800 Ultra

I'd take a screenshot but couldn't be bothered to driver clean then install then do system restore just to take a screenie.

But if you wanna try, the HL2 level I'm referring to is at the near start of "The Canal". After shooting the baddies with the mounted energy gun or whatever they called it, proceed the big underbridge with lots of junk and garbage. The you'll see the ground has lots of bright reflections from the trash which aren't suppose to be that bright even with the flash on.

ooohh, ok. I think I remember seeing that while I was using one of the betas once. I thought it looked a little strange.

The 75.90's worked great in UT2004 and ok in FEAR Multiplayer Beta, but sucked ass in KOTOR II and the Republic Commando Demo.

I don't know if any of you have tried it, but the latest driver beta release is REALLY good (71.84) and I would highly recommend it. It's basically like the 75.xx in perfromance and IQ without the bugs.

71.84

Ditch the 75.xx and try it, the response has been great almost across the board from the other threads I've followed...and personally I've found the IQ phenomenal in DOW and splinter cell demo, very smooth too and performaning well in opengl and d3d apps

I'm keeping 75.90. The problem I have with 71.8x (and all 70.xx and 71.xx) drivers is the weird video playback on the 6600 series. It has interlacing misalignment like the older 6x.00 drivers. And it looks especially bad on full screen -- with or without the nvidia dvd decoder installed. I don't have any complaints about the 75.90 drivers yet.
